Every morning I would wake up with the tingle of Jake's kiss on my lips, knowing he wasn't going to come back made it tingle even more, like static electricity was being pulsed through my mouth. Lily keeps telling me to get over it, but she doesn't understand that I can't. When you find your soul mate you feel like the huge hole in you has been filled up, but when Jake left it was like that hole was ripped out of me, leaving a giant and jagged empty circle in the core of my soul.
On this particular morning, though, I was surprised to find that there was no tingle. The logical only explanation I could come up with was the party last night, here let me explain.
Lily decided she wanted to have a school's out party, and so naturally me Oliver were invited. The party was great, and Lily's parents, for the most part, stayed out of the way.
"How cool is the party Miley!?"
"It's great, Lily. I'm so glad your parents agreed to let you have it." Me and Lily were standing outside, on her deck, sipping punch. The sky was kind of overcast, but that didn't put a damper on the party at all.
Oliver came over waving a sparkler around in the air, the light was burning little figure 8s in my eyes. "Hey, Lily this party is sweeeet."
"Oh, and I didn't even tell you the best part, my parents agreed to let us play spin the bottle." At that every one gathered in a circle, and Lily got out a glass coke bottle.
"You guys can play, I don't feel like playing." The thought of Jake lingered in my mind. Almost as if reading my mind Lily said, "Come on, Miley, you never know, it might take you mind off Jake."
"Who said I was thinking about Jake?" As if that didn't give it away totally. I gave up and took my place in the circle around the coke bottle.
"You go first Miley," Lily encouraged. I reluctantly grabbed the bottle and gave it a spin, I watched it spin around and around, and the finally it came to a stop pointing at…Oliver!
"Ok, well what can you do," Lily said, "Miley plant one on him." I got up and walked over to Oliver, he looked as hesitant as I did. I leaned in and gave him a light peck on the lips, a shock was sent all through out my body, I had the urge to grab him and keep kissing him until the party was over, but I gained control and let go.
Oliver seemed to notice, but he didn't say anything. Lily was eyeing my suspiciously.
And so that's where we are no, the party ended and everyone went home, and when I woke up this morning I was tingless. There was a soft knock at my door, "Miles, Lily just called, she wants to know if you want to meet her and Oliver down at the beach?"
"Oh, yeah, dad, just let me get dressed and be right down." I could hear my dad relaying the message as he walked back downstairs to the kitchen. I was still debating how to face Oliver, when I walked up to him at the beach.
"Hey," He said sheepishly.
"Hey," I said back.
"Well, I see you guys have a lot to talk about, so I'll just be buying a hotdog now," Lily said as she ran over to the snack place.
"About last night," I spoke up.
"Don't worry about it. If you hadn't pulled away I might have done the same thing."
" So are we good?"
"We're more than good," Oliver said as he leaned into kiss me. This time I didn't pull away, I felt like I maybe I could take a nap in his firm warm grip.
"Miley?" I heard a voice say and I looked up to see Jake standing over me a Oliver!
"Jake, I'm sorry, what are doing here?"
"Save it, Miley, it's obvious that you got over me real quick," and with that he marched off the beach leaving me dumbfounded and speechless.
