"I'll leave you guys alone" Peyton stammered looking at Jake and Nikki.
"Thanks Peyton" Nikki said with a courteous wave of good-bye.
"Why the hell are you here!" Jake shouted.
"Jake, I had to come I need to get something back. I need Jenny and I need to get someone back for something" Nikki explained.
"Who do you need to get back?" Jake said sitting down on Peyton's wooden bench.
"Dan Scott" Nikki said with tears welling up in her eyes. "He, he, I can't say it."
Jake leaned forward and hugged Nikki.
"It's ok, sh, sh, sh" Jake was attempting to comfort her.
"He attacked me" Nikki blurted out.
"WHAT!" Jake yelled.
At this point Peyton ran outside to Jake and Nikki.
"I have to go, I've already screwed enough stuff up" Nikki said, she was crying so hard. She turned around and ran out of the yard leaving Jake and Peyton alone.
"Did you invite her?" Peyton asked. "Did you think it would be funny?"
"No, she came by herself. But, she told me that Dan Scott attacked her. Do you know anything about that?" Jake said staring at where Nikki had stood just moments ago.
"No, I don't. She's totally lying though. Dan Scott is a good man" Peyton replied turning around and storming inside.
Jake couldn't help thinking what went wrong? Me and Peyton had a perfect relationship. Now We always argue. We were perfect. And now, we're awful.
Too bad perfect doesn't last forever, but awful lasts a lifetime.
