Author's Note: Hi! I know I should focus on writing my other fanfics, not to mention the tests are not far away, but I watched Treasure Planet the other day, and wrote a oneshot. It was lying around, so I figured, why not post it? So here it is. I think Jim and Merida went OCC, but whatever. Right? Even though it makes absolutely no sense, this fanfic is Jimrida (JimXMerida). Warning.

*I have no idea how to do Merida's accent. SOS?*

"Hold on."

Merida nodded, and felt her hair brush Jim's. She tightened her grip on his waist. "Are ya sure about this?" she asked.

He turned his head to smirk at her. "The fearless princess of Clan DunBrouch, scared about a little solar surfing."

"Shattup." she muttered, and felt her face flush. Of course it was only because she was mad at him. Nothing else. She hesitated. "But solar boards are only meant for one person-"

"Relax," he smiled. "You sound like my mother. Besides, it was your idea, remember? Touch the sky?"

Merida ducked her head. She hadn't really expected him to remember that. "Let's just go," she muttered. Jim grinned, and turned away.

"Here we go."

The solar sail flew open, almost knocking Merida off. "Told you," she heard him mutter. She ignored that. The honeycombed pattern on the solar sail was slowly turning golden, a warm glow creep up it as it charged up. The golden light reached the peak of the sail and the surfer sprung into the air.

"Okay," Jim muttered. "You ready?"

Absolutely not! "Sure."

The solar surfer shot off at an amazing speed. It was like ridding except faster and much, much higher. "This is amazing!" she yelled.

Jim's words were almost ripped away by the wind. "Oh, you haven't seen amazing yet." The solar surfer went on a steep ascent, almost vertical. Than at the highest peak, it stopped.

Then Jim snapped shut the solar sail.

The small vehicle plummeted to Earth, at speeds that will kill them. What the effing heck is going on? Then, minutes, no seconds, away from being road-kill, the solar sail flew open, and the surfer managed to steady itself before they both died.

Jim whooped with joy. "How was that, princess?"

"That was incredible! I thought I was going to die!"

She let out a caterwaul that was half-yell, half-laugh. She raised her arms high above her head. "Yes!" Her foot slipped.

Then she was falling.

"Jim, are you sure?"

"Yes," Jim got up from the table and picked up the solar surfer. "I'm very, very sure."

Sarah Hawkins let out an exasperated sigh. "Merida wouldn't want you to do this."

"Please, mom."

"You should be grateful it was her spine, not her neck. Jim, are you sure about this? Giving up solar surfing?"

I wish it were her neck. He immediately felt guilty. It was his fault that the redheaded girl was stuck in bed all day long. She tried being cheerful about it, but that had only made it worse. No. Knowing that this was all his fault, his fault that she could never be really happy, that made it worse.

Touch the sky.

Ha. She couldn't touch the top of her bookshelf. She would never touch the sky.

And it was all his fault.

"Yes," he said again. "I'm sure."

All his fault.

Feedback, please. No idea a oneshot would be so hard. Who knew, right?

Update: So I was reading my one and only review, and since this is a oneshot, there would be no chance to answer reviews in the next chapter. Not that their are so much of them. Anyway,
Apocalypse owner: Thank you for being my first reviewer. And yes, Merida can never walk again. When you say horrible, does that means you like it or not?
