Title: Champ Again
Summary: Hunter tries to get Shawn to agree to be WWE champion.
Notes: I know this didn't happen but I just had fun writing it and thought I might as well share it.

"This is the life, huh?" Hunter said, passing a drink to his friend.

Shawn took the drink from Hunter and eyed him suspiciously.

The pair were sat in Shawn's hotel room. Hunter had been on Raw to do a promo with Shawn to help make sense of his current storyline. But Shawn knew there was more to the trip back to the hotel with him than just a chat, which is what Hunter claimed. Afterall, Steph was now on Raw every week so he should be on the coach with her.

"C'mon then. Out with it. What do you want?" Shawn blurted out.

"Oh, wow, Shawn. Now that hurts! I mean, what happened to friendship and just hanging out together?" Hunter said, exaggerating greatly.

"We got married and grew up." Shawn said bluntly. "Out with it. I know you want something."

"Okay, fine. Vince made me come here to try and convince you too...."

"Oh no. I know what you're gonna say and the answer, as always is no."

"But why?" Hunter pleaded. "You might as well, you're on all the time."

"I've had my time as champion, I don't want the belt any more."

"Yeah but..."

"No." Shawn interrupted.

"Fine. I at least tried." Hunter said. "But if Vince asks, I tried to convince you for longer."

"Whatever gets you to shut up." Shawn said. He turned his attention back to the TV. It was switched off, but that didn't stop him looking at it as though it were on.

"Yeah. I'll shut up now." Hunter was quiet for a while before he started again. "It's a shame though, you know."

"What is?" Shawn asked, even knowing what he was talking about.

"Just, Vince was telling me his plan and it was awesome."

"Yeah well, I'm sure there's someone else who'll be just as good."

"Oh yeah. Hey, if we keep you off TV for a bit we might be able to get Bret to come back for a few weeks, that'll be cool."

"Like I care." Shawn said.

"You so would. If Vince bumped you for Bret you'd be begging for a second screwjob."

"Hunter." Shawn protested.

"Sorry." Hunter apologised, not at all sincere. "So, can I tell you the idea then?"

"The Bret idea?"

"No, dummy, the idea for you."

"If you must."

"The big picture, Shawnie. WrestleMania 25, HBK winning the belt. 13 years after he first won the title. 11 years after he wrestled against Steve Austin in what was supposed to be his last match. One epic encounter. HBK vs JBL...."

"Really?" Shawn interrupted.

"Oh yeah. Employer vs Employee, for the world heavyweight title. 20 years after your first WrestleMania apperance. It would be... epic. HBK wins the gold one final time before his retirement. How was that for a sell?"

"Wasn't bad." Shawn said.

"You loved it. Drew you right in."

"I'm easily impressed. I got a bigger picture for you though. Shawn Michaels and JBL headlining WrestleMania 25. The lowest grossing PPV in WWE history.... wow!"

"Yeah, because the whole card would revolve around you. Big head."

"Oh well if your on it Mr twelve time champ, we'll be okay. How's the quad holding out?"

"Ouch! Better than your back! And knees. And hair."

Shawn smirked. "You know, one day I'm really gonna smack you for all these cheap shots."

"I'm sure it'd really hurt too. So, you gonna think about it?"

"I won't rule it out completely. But, no one's interested in our storyline and I'm not taking a dud in there."

Hunter smiled, clapped a hand on Shawn's back. "That's practically a yes! That's awesome."

"That wasn't a yes!"

"Yeah whatever, I gotta go call Vince. Have a good night."

Shawn watched as Hunter left, taking his phone out. He thought he'd wait until morning before he called Vince and told him what he'd actually said.

But left alone, Shawn thought about the idea. Winning the title once more at WrestleMania.

Could he really say no to that?

The End

A/N: Apparently, yes, he could say no to that! ;)
