Are You Sure?
"Are you sure?" Mr. Roosevelt asked Jack.
"What do you mean?" Jack responded. They were in a carriage heading for the train station.
"Are you sure that this is what you want?" Mr. Roosevelt asked.
"Yes, I've wanted this my whole life," Jack said. "I've waiting just as long too."
"But are you sure that there's not something you're forgetting?" Mr. Roosevelt asked.
"What do you mean?" Jack questioned.
"What I mean is, are you sure that you want to leave this place behind or rather leave these people behind?" Mr. Roosevelt asked. "They're gonna miss you Jack."
"Well...they've got David, they'll be fine," Jack responded.
"Are you positive about that?" Mr. Roosevelt questioned. "What about that girl that keeps following you around?"
"You mean Sarah?" Jack said. "What about her?"
"Well you're leaving her behind too," Mr. Roosevelt said. "From what I've seen she seems like you."
"What? No. She wouldn't, I mean, she couldn't, right?" Jack responded. "Right?" Jack lowered his head to think. Silence proceeded for a few minutes.
"Jack let me tell you something," Mr. Roosevelt started. "I understand the desire to break free and to want to forget, honestly I do. But look at what and who you're leaving behind. You're leaving behind friends, a family, and a girl that loves you and in exchange you're getting open plains with nothing and hot weather. Does that seem like a fair trade?" Jack couldn't answer. "Jack, are you sure that there's some things you need to do first?" Jack lifted his head.
"Sir, could you please ask him to turn this carriage around?" Jack asked. Mr. Roosevelt smiled.
"Sir! Change of plans head back towards Pulitzer's place!" Mr. Roosevelt called. The driver nodded and turned the carriage around. They arrived back and everyone was cheering for him. Once the carriage stopped he got out.
"Thank you sir," Jack said. He shook Mr. Roosevelt's hand. "You're right. I've still got some things to do."
