'The Sea
It calls to me
It plagues my dreams and fantasies
When I am awake I hear its gentle lapping
In the state of limbo between awake and asleep
I can feel the salt on my skin
And breeze in my face
When I do return
I realize it shall never be this way again
As I grow older
I lose my innocence and ignorance
Of mind and heart
Careless no more and my free spirit has been tamed
It is hard to drop everything an
And get way from life
Day to day duties and responsibilities
Weigh heavily on my shoulders
It is my burden to
And only mine to bear
It will never be how it used to be
And yet it will never be this way again
Stepping onto the hot sand
Like walking on burning coals
My feet are punctured and jabbed by shell
Like the hard path of life
When my feet tough the water
It is pure ecstasy
Washing away pain and hurt
Forgiving my sins
Loosening my recently ever tense muscles
And aching joints
Peace and serenity wash over me
All that is left is the pain in my heart
Knowing it will never be this way again
Watching the dolphins
Gliding over the water
Like a hot knife through butter
Water beaded on their skin
Like a wet suit for diving
Glistening form the sun
They are one with the ocean
Something I have yet to reach
And probably never will
All wise and knowing
Open about everything
A constant pattern and rhythm
Surfacing and submerging
With the crashing of the waves
And beat of my heart
A balance and longing
To be apart of everything at once
I savor the moment
For I know it will never be this way again
The circle of life
The cycle of the sea
A constant metamorphosis
Ever fickle and volatile
Every sunset different
Every breeze has a unique voice
So many variables
Not enough constants
I am sure it will never be this way again
The only thing for sure
It is the longing in my body
Desire of my heart
And a need in my soul
To hear the dolphins song praising the sea
And it's response back
Its lament soothing and glorious
My mind ever enchanted and entranced
The only thing that will put my mind at east
Is to be one with the sea
Full of peace and harmony'
