What should have happened but never was implemented. Seriously, CLAMP and Sunrise was making the American Revolution a failure and making the entire British power structure just move to the New World after Napoleon wins at Trafalgar the best you could do with the British Empire and America?

General: A few months after the formation of the GKR, fascists in the Islands and Pan-Africanist extremists in the West Indies overthrew the moderate left-wing government in a coup and formed 'The Holy Britannia Empire', which basically controls Russia, the former Empire of Japan, Spain and Southern Asia in addition to Britain' pre-war territory and the GKR, which was 'peacefully absorbed' into the Empire. And now they have set their eyes upon us.

Resistance Fighter 3: Don't we have any allies?

General: The EU can't help us as they're bogged down fighting Britannia , and the Chinese dynastic system of ruler ship was restored in the 1940s so good luck on getting help from them. The only possible assistance we may receive is from a Japanese resistance group known as the Black Knights, they are lead by a masked man known only as 'Zero".

Resistance Fighter 1: Are we going to help this Zero, or let him try to liberate Japan on his own terms?

General: I think it's high time we showed the world that America is not dead. That freedom is alive and well despite the efforts of tyranny to annihilate it under the iron boot of oppression! We are the will of the American people! Freedom forever!
