"Well, I'll be leaving now."

Irene looked up from her desktop and was forced to do a double take.

Kate looked good. Really good. Tight black dress hugged the curves Irene was maybe jealous of, but completely in love with.

Her long red hair fell over her shoulders, light and begging for finger to be run through it.

"And where are you off to? You're looking entierly to enticing. I don't think I better let you leave like that..." Irene began to rise from her seat, but Kate pushed her back softly with one hand.

"No. No, my love. You missunderstand me. I am leaving."

Irene looked at her hard and serious a moment, before slightly scoffing. "What? What are you talking about?"

Kate looked past her, looked to her computer monitor. "You know what. More improtantly, you know why."

Irene also looked at her computer.

Irene rolled her eyes. "Really, Katie? Thats it? You do realize this is my-"

"Job. right. It's just a job... then the more you studied him, it became admiration..."

Irene sighed, mabye slightly annoyed?

"Then you met him and... everything changed."

Irene's heart jumped a little at the sound of Kate's voice: so wounded, so small.
Slowly, she raised her eyes back to the woman and was greated with tears. But she was slightly smiling.

"I have stayed by your side for years even with your work. I never minded; I knew it was work.I even got to reap some of the benefits of having a Mistress as a girlfriend."

Kate's laugh sound more like a bitten of sob.

"I also know this... this is something completely different. So, I'm letting you have him."

"Katie, if I don't get him to figure out this code-"

"You could be in danger?" Kate shook her head, refusing to wipe away the tears running warm down her cheeks.

"No... if you were in any kind of danger, I'm sure he's more than able to protect you. And that's good. It's something I could never provide for you."

Irene, in turn, shook her head. "Katie, you can't... Katie..."

Kate leaned over, her hair falling over her shoulders and enveloping them both as her breath fell on Irene's ear.

"I have loved you through all of this... and I still do now. This is my way of proving it. Find what you want... and don't let it go."

Irene actually felt herself shaking, even as Kate's lips pressed softly against hers.

She thought at first Kates tears were wiping onto her cheeks. No, it was her own tears, burning as she tried to make the kiss more forceful, show her need.

Still, Kate slowly pulled away.

Irene tried reaching for her arm, but she still slowly pulled away untill only there fingers lingered.

The house was dead silent. Had been for a while. How long ago did Kate leave?

And Irene hadn't moved. She didn't know what to do with herself.

No more tears; what good would it do.

Her eyes flickered over her phone.

I'm ... sad tonight. Lets have dinner?
