Another vague and random oneshot from me. Spur of the moment. Key words are: Short, bittersweet and to the point. Don't like, don't read.

Takes place in the final plus scene that we all call hope where Cagalli and Athrun hug.
She walks past them all, giving them each a personal goodbye.
To Mwu, or Neo, as he likes to be called, she gives a smile, because she really isn't sure what else to give.
To Murrue, she gives a handshake and a whispered thank-you, because she knows it's the perfect thing to give.
To Kira, she gives a hug, because it's sort of become a tradition to so every time he leaves.
To Lacus, she gives another hug, because a hug from a friend is sometimes the most rewarding thing they can give you.
And to Athrun…
She doesn't know what to give Athrun; not after all they've been through. She wants to give him something though, now, when she can give. Because she knows that tomorrow she'll be to busy with work and politics to give anyone (including herself) anything.
So she hesitates. And buys for time. And looks away.
That's when he hugs her.
It's not a sibling's hug like the one she gave Kira, nor is it a friendly hug like the one she gave Lacus, but it is a hug from someone who care nonetheless.
A hug from someone who cares enough to give her what she needs to give.
So she hugs him back.
With that eye in the back of her head, she can see that he is smiling.
She knows that she's given him the perfect gift.
And the perfect goodbye.
