Teddy had not anticipated being so nervous. In all honesty, he had no idea why he was; after all it was just Bill. This was surrogate uncle who had played Gobstones with him when he was a kid, bought him his wizarding watch at the age of seventeen. But it was different this time, he was asking for a game of Gobstones he was asking Bill for his daughter. Teddy took a deep breath and knocked on the door of Shell Cottage. Fleur opened the door.
"Ahh. Teddy, Victoire is not home, but do come in."
"It's okay Fleur, I was actually here to talk to you and Bill."
"Oh I see," she said with a knowing look, which made Teddy feel more uncomfortable. "I shall call him down." Fleur sauntered off and Teddy seated himself on the couch.
Fleur returned with Bill and tea. Bill seated himself adjacent to Teddy.
"So Teddy," Bill prompted, "how's working in the Auror department?"
"It's fine. I've actually come to talk to you about something important. I want marry Victoire." Teddy said quickly.
Bill sighed, "I should have known this day was going to come. I mean I had lost her to you 15 years ago. You have my blessing."
"What do you mean 15 years ago?" Teddy asked. "Victoire and I only started dating 7 years ago."
"When you where nine and she was seven we had left you guys at home for about an hour to go and get groceries, and when we came back Victoire had fallen asleep in your arms and you, asleep as well, were holding her tightly. It's one of those things where you know that what you thought was yours isn't yours anymore."
"You should have seen him Teddy," Fleur said laughingly, "He was sulking for days."
Victoire stood at the foot of the stairs at the Burrow in her wedding dress waiting for her father. He came down the stairs smiling.
"Are you ready?" he asked her. She nodded her head. The music began playing and they walked down the aisle.
"Who gives the bride away in matrimony?"
"I do." Bill said. He lifted his daughter's veil planted a kiss on her forehead, wiped a tear that had escaped from her eye and turned around and joined his wife. Today she had been lost, but to Bill he had gained a son more than lost a daughter. And he had to admit, he hadn't ever been happier for losing.
