Sasuke sat there, the body of his best friend limp in his arms. He lifted a pale hand to brush a strand of blonde hair out of the lifeless face before him. The raven couldn't bring himself to believe this was happening. That this had happened. "N…Naruto," he started, voice quivering with emotion.
And then he let it go. Tears streamed down Sasuke's face as he buried it into Naruto's chest, the chest of the only one who treated him as he should. A jerk. A 'teme'. A person. Sasuke had sworn there was no bond between them, but he secretly relished their friendship. Naruto had chased him all over the place, trying to bring him home. Only a true friend has that kind of dedication.
Sobs could be hears quite loudly. But Sasuke didn't care. It was just him and his best friend. Not even the corpses of all his other friends growing up could distract him from that. Blood stained the ground so it looked like red grass. The grey sky swirled with clouds, and rain began to drop down upon the scene.
As the rain grew harder, Sasuke pulled back and yelled at the sky. No real words. No cussing. Just a yell of pure agony. The earth had done this to him. To his best friend. Destiny. Fate, some would call it. Well, everyone's fate would come to an end today.
The Uchiha pulled his katana from its sheath. He gave one last, longing look around. Squeezing Naruto close to himself with his free arm, the pale boy plunged the sword into his heart. As the light faded from his onyx eyes, one word could be heard. It echoes around the clearing, even though it was so soft. "Sorry."
