Heya guys! This is my first Grayza fanfiction and I hope it's alright. :)

As usual, the Fairy Tail guild was as boisterous as ever, which caused the scarlet haired knight sitting at the counter to become irritated, as a certain pink-haired fire mage and black-haired ice mage led the ruckus. Lucy, who was sitting next to the knight noticed a dark swing in the atmosphere and nervously turned her head to see the scarlet-haired woman releasing an intimidating aura which was felt by everyone except Natsu and Gray.

As she stood up, her bangs shadowed her face which caused the two boys to realize what they had done. Clinging to each other for dear life, the knight slowly made her way to them, her boots thumping against the wood floor and her armor bumping slightly into each other, causing a metallic clinking noise to be heard as the guild turned totally silent. Stopping in front of the two boys, her shadow seemed to loom over them, causing them to nearly pee their pants out of fear.

"W-we're sorry, Erza-san! Please don't hurt us!"

"Ayye!"

"You bastards...!"

The rest of the guild shut their eyes tightly as they heard crashes and yelps of pain and angry yelling and lecturing. As the ruckus died down, the scary shadow seemed to have disappeared and retreated, and the atmosphere brightened drastically as the knight returned to her seat. In her wake, however were the two unfortunate mages, Gray and Natsu. Both of them seemed to have multiple bruises on their faces and a table near them was broken. Lucy shuddered, considering herself lucky that she wasn't mixed up in the whole affair.

As the knight sat down and began to go back to enjoying her strawberry shortcake, Gray and Natsu seemed to revive and went their separate ways, although the mutual feeling of a shallow disliking was felt between them as Gray went to go look at the Request Board and Natsu thought it would be fun to harass Lucy. As the blonde started whining and Natsu's laughter filled the air along with Happy's occasional "catchphrase", the Master stepped out of his office and walked up to Mirajane. As he whispered into her ear, she smiled warmly before replying with a gentle,"Of course!"

As the short master began toddling his way back to his office, a huge smirk on his face, Erza just happened to finish the slice of cake she had on her plate and was about to order another one before Mirajane trotted up to her, a big smile on her face. "Done?" she asked as she began to take away Erza's empty plate. Erza nodded, a slight smile on her face. "Of course." Mirajane winked at the woman in front of her before cocking her head towards Master's office. "Master would like to see you in his office, Erza!" Without further ado, she whisked away the plate and fork that was on the counter before disappearing in the kitchen.

Puzzled, the knight stood from her stool and began walking towards the office, as Natsu, Lucy, and Happy stood up from where they were and announced,"Hey, Mira! I'm goin' on this mission with Happy and Lucy, okay?" Her voice could be heard faintly as she spoke from the back of the counter. "Okay!" As Lucy, Natsu, and Happy walked out of the guild, Mirajane stepped out of the counter before walking up to Gray, who was still pondering at the request board, stating in her gentle voice,"Gray, Master would like to see you in his office!"

An acknowledging grunt was heard and Erza knocked once on the Master's door before announcing,"I'm coming in, Master." As she opened the door, Makarov was waiting patiently at his desk, only one piece of paper in front of him. Gesturing for Erza to take a seat, he waved at the door, signaling for Gray to come in. "Come in, come in! Don't forget to close the door behind you!" As the door clicked shut and Gray sat next to Erza on those hard plastic chairs in Master's office, the Master's facial expression turned serious.

"Erza... Gray.. Listen up. I have a very important mission for both of you. Do you think you can handle this? It's not too late to back out of it now."

Erza crossed her arms and gave a dead-serious expression to the Master. "Master, I can handle anything you throw at me. I won't let you down!" While Gray's response was,"Yeah, yeah, Gramps. Of course! I can't have Natsu gettin' all the glory, can I?" Makarov smiled at them, proud that he was their guild master. "Well, if you two can handle it, I guess I'll go on to explain it. There is a special job that the Magic Council wants us to accept, and it's very dangerous. They're only allowing us to dispatch two mages, and with Gildarts and Laxus busy already, I could only choose you two: the strongest female mage and one of her good friends."

Gray and Erza exchanged a surprised glance at each other. "What about Natsu?" Erza asked. She remembered all that she had witnessed before of the dragon slayer; his destructive power was surely impressive and though he didn't have much brains, he sure made up for it with a ton of brawn. Master's eyes grew serious yet again. "Natsu.. I don't think he's ready for this. He's still young and he acts too quickly based off of his hunches which are half of the time wrong. I'd like two intelligent and powerful mages on this mission. I think you two are ready for this. Here," he rasped as his voice was starting to act up.

Handing them over the quest paper, he coughed repeatedly, causing Erza and Gray to stand up in alarm. He held up a hand, signaling for them to hold off. After he finished his coughing fit, he sighed. "Oh.. I guess I really am getting a little too old. Don't worry, those are just normal for me.. My throat's been acting up lately," he explained, though he could still see doubt in their eyes.

"Read over the quest and get to it as soon as possible! I'm counting on you youngsters!"
