"Hey, Shika?" The hazel-eyed girl asked the boy at her side.
"Hm?"
"Why do you like the clouds so much?"
"..."
Shikamaru thought for a second, his eyes always gazing at the sky.
"They're free to do what they want, go with wherever the wind takes them," He paused. "and they don't have to live with their mom." He tagged on as an after-thought.
The two teens sat in silence as she mulled over his theory.
"So you would want to be a cloud?" She asked him finally.
Shikamaru glanced over at her, wondering where she was getting at. "Yeah, I guess so."
More silence.
Suddenly she broke out into a grin. "That's funny!" She lay her head against the tree bark and crossed her legs. "If I could be anything, I would be a bird."
Shikamaru shook his head and wondered why this girl never kept her mouth shut.
He struggled to keep his bored demeanor when he felt her move closer to him. She rested her hand on top of his and closed her eyes dreamily.
"That way, I'd be able to visit you in the sky, whenever I want."
