a/n: Before a Chemistry exam one year my friend texted me wishing me good luck and 'remember: What would Fye-sensei do?' Which I thankfully didn't get until afterwards because I was sitting next to a window xD Anyways this year before her art exam I texted her with 'What would Kuro-art-historian do?' as a joke and wrote a quick fic about it which she really liked and encouraged me to post so here it is!

'Look, kid, it doesn't matter how many times you tell me it's Renaissance era, it's not. You seen the pigmentation on that thing?' the historian gruffed, leaning back in his chair. It emitted a little self-certain squeak as it tipped and he folded his arms, very matter of fact.

'Ah! I'm sorry, sir,' his apprentice stuttered, clinging nervously to his typed report, 'I was thinking of the style.'

'It's easy to copy a style, anyone can do it,' the art historian explained. 'Hand them a picture and they can copy and replicate it no problem. The secret's in the paint.'

'I see… Like the base?' the student stumbled, snatching for the pen and notebook in his back pocket.

'Sort of. The colour has different hues depending on what you use, what type of rocks and plants you get the stuff from. It varies a lot.' He leant back forward, set an arm on his desk to gaze more thoroughly at the print-out copy that had been dropped on his desk. 'Not that I don't think you're right though, you picked up a lot of things. The way the brushstrokes have been set down, the layering, that sort of stuff.'

'Thank you,' the apprentice beamed, shining an embarrassed grin.

'Don't mention it. You can use that report if you want,' the historian added, tipping his chair back once again as though beckoning him to leave.

His apprentice smiled weakly, backing up to the door before he stopped. 'Er, sir, one more thing?'

'Yeah?' the man inquired, an eyebrow raised in interest.

'Ever since that art restorer said he could analyse them for you, you seem to be very interested in pigments, sir,' Syaoran hesitantly commented.

His tutor shot back up in his chair almost in surprise and then dropped back down with his face furrowing into a frown. 'Tch,' he muttered as his cheeks turned their own hue, eventually barking, 'Yeah well, science is a wonderful thing, right?'

a/n: This is the first time I've written anything so short! Plus it didn't take me very long and wasn't exactly inspired... eek!
