Author's Note: This is my new idea. You'll find out more about "the girl" in the next chapter. Ponyboy is fifiteen, hence the one year mark. The story will focus mainly on Ponyboy and "the girl", so any other POV's will be a surprise. Enjoy!
It's been a year since that day. That day when I lost two friends, one as a hero, the other as a criminal.
I was just sitting in the park, moping I guess, about the anniversary of my friends' deaths. I couldn't help it. I mean, I don't like to mope. It just isn't cool, but Dally and Johnny had that kind of effect on me.
I never noticed that a girl had sat down next to me.
"What's with the moping?" she asked. I noticed that she had long red hair (that was tied back and came out on side) and green eyes. I usually hate people with green eyes. But her eyes were different. They reminded me of the grass of the country. It reminded me of that past dream of the whole gang, with Dally and Johnny, living in a big house in the country, complete with Mickey Mouse.
I sat there for a few more moments before answering her. Could I tell her why I was here? Would she laugh at me? She didn't look like a Soc, but she also didn't look like a greaser. She looked like nothing I've ever seen before, better actually.
"Just reflecting, actually," I replied. Ugh, I was so stupid. I sounded like a know-it-all. Two-Bit and Soda keep warning me about that.
"About what, stranger?" she shot back.
"About how the people can make assumptions about people, and how they can be completely wrong?" I replied. I hope I didn't sound stupid.
AN: So, was it good? Tell me, either by PM, review, or voting. Hopefully, D: All of the Above! TTFN!
