A/N: Why, you may ask? Because the game is just awesome.
I actually wrote a huge story before this, basically following the game plotline with an added enemy for Batman, but I decided to post this to see if the ever-critical fans of the Batman fandom would accept me in. So, yeah!
Harley Quinn wasn't meant to cry.
She was meant to laugh at the pain that caused weaker women to cry.
And yet here she was, locked in a cell that wasn't hers, nursing bruises and cuts and bawling her eyes out, even though Bat-brain was only a few feet away. It didn't seem to connect, right at that moment. Months of planning, all of it ruined. She was always saying it – 'after this is over, me and Mr. J are gonna get married' – but what were the chances now? She told him that Mr. J would come and get her, but somewhere deep down she knew he just didn't care enough.
And what would happen to her? Batman would win, Batman would lose, but either way she was going to be locked in this empty cell until either a guard or an inmate found her. And neither way was good. A guard meant the Bat had won – she would be beaten for disobeying, spat upon, revenge will be taken – and then she'll be locked up for the rest of her life. If an inmate found her, she was bound to go through the same treatment – but rape, torture and murder certainly weren't off the list for the Arkham inmates. And so she cried, knowing that this would be the end for her, knowing she had lost Mr. J, lost her freedom, lost her life.
God, she hated this city.
