Writing Prompt #11:

Why would your character quit something that matters the world to them?

Winry loved automail.

Creating life and bringing happiness to those less fortunate was her world. Her grandmother had felt the same way about automail, and her parents had felt the same and wanted to save lives.

Winry started her own automail practice in Rush Valley, and had trained Paninya to help with the shop whenever she couldn't be there.

But when she married, she stayed in Resembool most of the time and had to travel to her own shop.

Winry wanted to keep working on her automail until the very end, and she did; until she became pregnant.

It was a stressful time in the young couple's marriage. Edward was constantly traveling to and from Central, and Winry had her shop and grandmother to take care of.

Ed hadn't wanted her to continue her practice when they found out Winry was having twins, and it was with a heavy heart that Winry packed up her tools and shared an apology with her customers.

She quit her automail practice for her family.

But she knew she couldn't stay away forever.
