"Hey kid what's on." She asked flopping down on the couch beside him.

"Not much some lifetime film and peter pan." He shrugged and handed her the remote.

"Oh peter pan I haven't seen that in years."

"That's because we don't like it."

"well its that or some movie about a football coach who starts as a big old meanie but in the end motivates his team to victory." She looked over at him eyebrow raised. "you decide."

"let's go to Neverland then!" he shrugged and pulled a blanket down around himself.

"Remember when we used to have Disney marathons all the time." She asked making herself comfortable.

"Not really…"

"I guess you were too young. I cant really remember. We had them all on video! Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, the little mermaid…"

"And Beauty and the Beast!" Henry joined in something sparking in his memory.

"Yes! You loved that one." She smiled and threw an arm around him, silently thanking the universe he was still a preteen and wasn't "too cool" for cuddling on the couch with his mother.

"Maybe we should give Peter Pan another go then."

"That's the pizza!" Henry called out as she came back from the kitchen two mugs in hand.

"Well then why didn't you go answer it!" she lightly tapped the top of his head.

"I don't have any money!" he shrugged and grinned at her.

"I guess I'm paying again!" she sighed and ran to the front door.

"Right grubs up kid." She said plonking the box down between them.

"I'm telling you I don't like Pan! There's something off about him." Henry said

"I think it's weird how he can convince everyone to do what he wants!" Emma nodded.

"it's creepy isn't it that he brings all these little boys to the island to keep him company."

"It's all a bit creepy." He agreed and wiped the cheese off his chin. "Although I think someone has a soft spot for Captain Hook!" he elbowed her lightly.

"What are you talking about!" she laughed. "he's a creepy old curly haired cartoon!"

"Yeah but…"

"And he's the bad guy!" she threw up her arms.

"Is he though? I mean he's only so grouchy because of what Pan did!"

"you mean the whole cutting off his hand and feeding it to a crocodile." She nodded. "yeah that'd make you a little mad alright." She laughed.

"I knew you had a soft spot for him!" Henry pointed! "you blush every time he comes on screen!"

"What would you know about that! I think it's just the pepperoni!"

"Ok mom if you say so!" he rolled his eyes.

"Cheeky."

She shoved the pillow behind her back and pulled the sheet up over herself. Grabbing the file sitting on her bedside table she settled back to learn about her next target.

But her mind wandered pretty quickly back to the conversation on the couch with her son. There definitely was something about that particular cartoon character that made her head sort of fuzzy. It most definitely wasn't the big moustache and the wavy hair or the fascination with purple. She couldn't really put her finger on it, and deep down she didn't think she really wanted to.

Yet as she drifted off to sleep that night there was a certain stainless steel hook invading her dreams.
