A/N: For the prompt from headfilledwithbirds who wanted Jessica walking in on Paric in a closet (which I changed slightly, hope you don't mind!). Hope you like!
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
In The Act
Jessica hummed to herself as she cleaned the glasses behind the bar at Fangtasia.
It wasn't the most exciting job in the world, but she appreciated the fact that Eric and Pam had taken her on. Particularly as the latter had also taken her under her wing and was, in many ways, the Maker she'd never had.
Not that she didn't love Bill, it was just refreshing to have someone in her life who wasn't ashamed of being a vampire. Someone who would rather teach her things than leave her to muddle through on her own.
Lost in her own thoughts she didn't notice the human about to throw up until it was too late.
She wrinkled her nose at the sight. "Gross," she muttered, before making her way at vampire speed to the human's side and ushering her out the door just as quickly.
Returning to the bar she eyed the vomit with distinct distaste. Silently vowing to be more observant in future,* she started to look for cleaning supplies.
She frowned when she found nothing behind the bar or even in the store room. She drummed her fingers absently on the top of the bar as she pondered where else she could look.
Her eyes landed on the toilets, "Of course," she murmured as she made her way through the thinning crowd.
She rolled her eyes at the noises coming from one of the cubicles: humans were disgusting, couldn't they wait until they got home?
"All right, get a room," she ordered in her best vampire voice, kicking the door in.
She froze as she took in the sight of Eric and Pam locked in a passionate embrace.
Pam raised an eyebrow.
"Fu-I'm so sorry!" she stammered, looking away, "I…someone was sick and…I was just…" she spun on her heel, "leaving. Um, enjoy your evening," she added, rushing out of the room at vampire speed.
The sound of their laughter did very little to improve her state of mind after catching them in flagrante.
She retreated to behind the bar, busying herself with her original task of polishing the glasses and trying her best to erase the image from her mind.
She had almost succeeded when the door to the toilets opened and Eric and Pam strolled out, both looking nonplussed as they adjusted their clothing.
Pam's wink and Eric's devilish grin in her direction completely undid all of her hard work in trying to forget the incident. If she'd still be human, Jessica knew her cheeks would have been flaming.
But at least she knew she wasn't going to be fired over it.
...
*I see this as preceding her kicking that chick out of the house during the party she was hosting in S5 ;)
