an eternity
a/n at the end, if you're big on a/ns. just a summary: what cho's been thinking. a little different than the normal cho/i m sad over cedric fic. read on, please.
Cho walked slowly up the stairs to the second floor of Hogwarts Castle. It seemed like an eternity ago when she had no worries in the world. She walked silently pass a mirror on the wall. The image of the girl staring back looked just like her, but it wasn't. At least, it wasn't the Cho she knew a a year ago, or half a year ago. The sides of the hallway was lit only by a few torches spaced evenly apart. The hall was empty- she was just heading back to the Ravenclaw Common room after having a meeting with Professor McGonagall about Transfiguration. The rest of the school was eating dinner, but Cho didn't feel like joining the crowd.
Yesterday seems like an eternity ago
when things were much different
we used to spend time with each other
everyday
but now that you're gone
I don't know
what to do
Ever since Cedric had died, Cho had questioned her existence. Sure, it seemed like she had it together on the outside, but no one knew about her the real her. Even her group of best friends who swore they knew Cho inside and out, could not fathom what was going inside Cho's head. Cho's family lived in California. But after Cho left for school in England, her family moved back to Taiwan, off the coast of China. They were so far away, it took an owl many days to reach where her family was. She had wanted to stay in the US and go to a wizard school there, but when she was accepted to Hogwarts, her parents made her go.
"Oh, it's the best school! It's very very hard to get into Hogwarts! You have to go!"
Her mom told her in Chinese (sh hen hao de shie shiow! Hen nan gin chi Hogwarts! Nee yow chi!)
So Cho, who didn't have much of a choice, left for Hogwarts. It was hard at first, but Cho quickly fit in-sort of. She was smart, and pretty, AND she played quidditch. She missed all her witch friends in CA, it was so different than England. They still liked her, but she never got to see them. And being in England, away from all her Chinese friends, seriously messed up her Chinese. Even though this was not as devastating as losing Cedric, it was another thing that Cho missed. Nowardays, every little thing affected Cho. She had gotten a low score on a Transfiguration test-something she did very rarely, so she had seen her teacher. Professor McGonagall refused to change her grade, but all Cho did was accept it.
Cedric. Cho remembered him so clearly. It wasn't fair. Nothing was fair. Cho had loved Cedric, one of the things that kept her tied down to Hogwarts. Of course, she didn't show how much she didn't feel like she belonged. Although she tried not to think about him often as it would drive her to tears, she realized that Cedric's death affected her in ways she couldn't imagine. Why, she had a pretty good life before Cedric died. She was only overreacting about the whole moving thing, and not seeing her parents or her old friends. Suddenly, Cho's head hurt. No, wait, it didn't. Wait, it did. Another thing, Cho didn't know what she wanted any more. She couldn't make decisions.
"If only...." she said outloud. If only what? Cho was falling apart in her own head, and she didn't know what to do. "Cedric" she whispered, and continued walking down the hall.
