Heart of Real

Each and every living being has a heart, how we nurture it defines us

Kadie stepped off the bus, turning her head to say a quick ' thank you' to the bus driver. Her Dark-brown hair whipped around in the weather as the first drops of rain began to pour down. "Seems like another rainy week" she muttered under her breath as her shoes slowly gathered small drops of water. Kadie tightened her school bag, which had been hanging half way down her back, so that it was tight and secure. Her feet shuffled and came to a still as she closed her eyes feeling the rain set in heavy.
Kadie's clothes began to get drenched as she began running in a steady pace down the street, Over-head the leaves from the trees drifted down in their autumn daze. At the middle of the street she skidded, leaning back to aid in her stop then looked at her house, Peaceful as usual, but there was a strange force plucking at her mind giving her a ringing in her ears.
As she unlocked the front door she could hear her Chihuahua, Rex, barking. There were no sign of her cats; Melody and Felix as she walked into the kitchen and set her bag down, flicking her hair.
"Melody? Felix?" Kadie called out opening the back door and checking for them. When only her larger much more robust dog, Shadow, appeared she gave the black and white dog a pat on the head and closed the door going up to where Rex was standing growling at the door.
"Rex, unless there are mice in my room you better stop barking like that" Kadie scowled, pushing the door handle down. She gave the door a push but something blocked it. "What on earth?" She said putting her full weight on the door in an Attempt to open it.
As she began pushing against it fully with all her weight it suddenly swung open. On the ground was two teens in similar age to her wearing her clothes. "What, How?" she stuttered before the girl's hair caught her eye. It was Black with brown spots and white ends. As she looked closer there was even ginger streaks, she kept staring at them before speaking again, "M-melody?" She turned to the boy, his hair was a fiery orange and it had white streaks throughout it, "Felix?"
The two nodded, "Don't scream" Melody said jumping up at Kadie and hugging her.
Kadie's face turned pale as her eye twitched, the two former cats watching her every move closely. Kadie opened her mouth and Melody covered it, "Don't" she said, her voice edgy but kind.
Kadie looked from Melody to Felix then back again, "Whatever made you think I was about to scream" she replied her voice hazy with shock. She then continued, "And I am really interested in how you are humans now" she said pointing at them.
Felix shrugged and stood up, "I have a feeling that, seeing as were humans now, We have to go to... what did you call it" He asked rubbing his head. "School" Kadie muttered her skin still pale, "Yeah school, wait what's school" Melody asked.
