Chapter One

DISCLAIMER: I don't own DC because I can't draw that good xD

It was just another night with winds continuously push to seek a way into the room. She was sitting on a vintage chair while staring outside the window waiting for the storm to abate. A book with golden prints was just lying on her lap, without looking, she constantly flipping through the aged texts, as if something was on her mind. And yes, there was, that's when she decided to return to Japan.

"Doo - doo..." The unexpected ringtone echoed in the house. Shinichi tapped his hand on the table next to the sofa to search for his phone. He just remembered how last night he was occupied with a case concerning of perfect crime.

"Hello?" Shinichi said agitatedly.

"A-la, it's rare that you are still sleeping at this time."

"What?" Shinichi scanned through the room for the clock, ambiguously he saw the hour pointing to 14.

Suddenly, he stood up, running towards the bathroom that is just located to the left.

"Damn, I forgot about the appointment with Ran..." Shinichi murmured to himself, quickly, he tries to prepare.

"So you haven't forget about her, huh." The voice on the other side of the phone speaks again, with a tone of jealousy that blends in with casual.

"Um... Who is this?" He questioned.

"You will know later."the voice replied

Ai hung up leaving a confused detective alone, "of course, what was I expecting?" Then she continued on rolling her cart to the exit. "Haibara-san, over here!" A familiar sound grabbed Haibara's attention. Quickly, she tries to trace the source of the voice and found a men in a blue suit waving at her.

"Mitsuhiko-kun? Why are you here?" Haibara is pleased to see him in a country that seems so foreign to her now.

"Ayumi-chan told me about your return, how... how was your life in America?" Mitsuhiko replied with a hint of nervous, seeing the girl he loves made his heart skipped a beat.

"Are you in a hurry?" Haibara didn't sense anything unusual, she asked innocently.

"Ugh...um...no, I'm, I'm here... for...for you." He couldn't help it but to stutter his words out.

Haibara responded with a smile and sweet words that seems unsuitable for her, "thank you."

But still, Mitsuhiko froze, due to the "power" of the super "cool" icy princess. :D

On the way home, Mitsuhiko zealously introduced the development of Japan, but all Haibara could think is the way Shinichi had changed, so rapidly that she, herself who put him in that situation be astonished. How could he just forget about the vow he promised her, the way they felt about each other, that one time where they fought shoulder to shoulder. She smiled ironically while drops of tear escaping her eyes.

"Are you okay? Haibara-san," Mitsuhiko just can't put down the solicitude that he has for her, "Haibara-san?" He rose his voice just so she can hear him.

"Huh...oh...yeah?" His tender voice brought her back to reality. Then, awkward silence stayed for the rest of the way.

With packages unloaded in Haibara's apartment, she offered to have dinner with him, but Mitsuhiko denied with an excuse of he's going to be busy tomorrow so he needs some rest. Against his will, Mitsuhiko drove away from Haibara's apartment, remaining countless questions he wants to ask her. Why is she like this? Is it because of the battle four years ago?

[In Ai's room]

Haibara opes her laptop, an e-mail notification pops up, "Remember your mission, don't hesitate, finish it as soon as possible!"

"This means, I would have to see the dense detective again, why is this happening to me?" Then the lights closed, Haibara went to sleep with her ambivalent emotions.
