"Lan Fan!" Ling screamed his guard's name as she threw herself in front of him, the assassin's dagger piercing her skin rather than his.
He swiftly silenced the assassin with his own blade before dropping to his knees beside Lan Fan.
"I-I'm sorry Young Lord... I have failed you..." Her voice was soft and breathy, her lungs filling with blood.
Tears ran down Ling's face. "No, no Lan Fan you haven't failed me at all! Lan Fan you've got to stay with me!" She smiled slightly and squeezed his hand.
"Please... Don't waste your tears over me..." Her eyelids started to droop, her hand still grasping tightly to Ling's as he shook with silent sobs. "Goodbye... Ling... I... I love you..."
He watched the life drain from her eyes before he could reply.
"No. No! Lan Fan you cant die! I love you too! No! No..." His tears fell, hot and wet onto her lifeless body. "Lan Fan... Lan Fan..."
He hoisted her body into the air, carrying her to a resting place, somewhere far away from where she had died.
He blamed himself.
Out in the cold rain, he dug a grave for Lan Fan before laying her into the pit, and removing the dagger from her belly.
"Its all my fault..." He watched the blood drip from the dagger, and in a moment of desperation and pain, plunged it into his own stomach. "I'll be with you soon... Lan Fan..."

I cried when I wrote this. Just tears. Sobbing. Omg I hated out my DeiviantArt (Animeauthorchick) for the drawing that I made, which inspired me to write this~
