"What do you mean hugs are considered flirting?" Brittany had asked Mike earlier, when he jokingly brought up how everyone had thought the two were dating although he was dating Tina due to the fact that the duo hugged all the time – when they saw each other, when they left, sometimes while they were talking, all the time.

"Well, it might be new to you, but most of the time when people hug, it's considered flirting. It's okay, though, I know you're not flirting with me, and so does Tina." Mike had told her earlier, trying to reassure the blond. If anyone else had asked Mike the same question Brittany had, he would have thought that they were just attention getters, just someone wanting an excuse to not seem like a flirt. But since it was the bubbly, ditzy blond, Mike just shrugged and answered it truthfully like he did to all of Brittany's questions.

However, unbeknownst to the Asian, Brittany really did feel something for him. However, she knew he was off-limits, as he had a girlfriend, so she just kept it to herself. And almost ironically, Mike had kept his feelings for Brittany hidden, and had just transferred it onto Tina as he didn't want to ruin his perfect friendship with Brittany.

And now it was like déjà vu. Tina had just confronted Mike about this, asking him if the three of them were on a stranded island, and he could only save one, who he would save. Brittany's name slipped out, rolled off his tongue easily, almost effortlessly. Just like he would say his own name.

"I'm Sorry." Mike had told Tina, as she kissed his cheek, and walked out of his room. But he wasn't sorry. In fact, he was glad. Glad that Tina had finally broken things off with him. Glad that he didn't lie about loving Brittany.

He knew what he had to do now. He picked up his phone, and keys, and left a note to his parents, although he knew they wouldn't be back before he would – his mom was at her little Asian parent society, where she was playing mahjong, while his father was most likely working. He slipped on his sneakers, and instead of heading for his car, he ran to Brittany's.

When he got there, his face was red from the exercise. He rapped on the door quickly, one time after another, impatiently waiting for Brittany to open the door. He didn't even know what to say to the blond when she opened the door. He probably should have thought about it before.

"Mike?" Brittany asked him, shaking him out of the thoughts, as she gave him a hug.

"Britt…" Mike trailed off, not knowing what to say. Instead, he let his emotions, and hormones do it all for him. He closed the space between them with a kiss, wrapping his arms around Brittany's waist, and letting her know the whole story without saying a word. Words weren't needed, not for them. Their actions communicated everything.
