Disclaimer: Everyone knows I don't own Zelda, so blah!

Author's Note: This is an old poem I wrote about about how Ruto got over Link. Nothing serious ;)

I remember when I was small
Climbing up vine walls and sliding down waterfalls,
I asked him, simply and quietly,
"Why do you run away constantly?"

I gave him my treasure along with my hand
I thought he'd understand, and let it go as planned.
I clutched his cap and crying silently inquired,
"Why do you always flee?"

Does he not wish to be a king?
Have everything once we wed in spring?
He gasped and I had to ask:
"What if I offered you a river or a sea…?"

Yesterday is gone; I await the arrival of tomorrow
Your face once brought me joy, now fills me with sorrow;
You're no longer mine, but still, let me ask you one more thing,
"Why couldn't you love me?"

"There is a feeling I hold without shame or pride
That I wish I could hide somewhere deep inside
I do not love you. Never have. I'm sorry, princess…
I pledged my heart to another, why won't you see?"

I proceeded to shoving him off the ledge, feeling brash
I was surprised to hear a splash! instead of a smash!
For the first time in all of our years betrothed,
Link, my friend, I was running away from thee.

-yours truly, Ruto
