"So Daniel, you're from New York city?" Harold asks, the two men are sitting in the living room, 'watching' a football game.
"Yes, sir," Danny replies, still mildly nervous. He hated feeling like he was being interrogated, especially when that was one of his favorite parts of his job. "Actually Staten Island."
"How long have you been a Detective?"
"5 years. Been a cop for 10."
"You and Lindsay work together?"
"Yes sir, that's how we meet."
"What's your last name, son?"
"Messer." Danny didn't know how else to answer these questions, he knew he was just trying to figure out things about this man his daughter was going to marry but he still didn't know how to answer with more than one sentence. He just hoped he was passing the test.
Suddenly a great play caught his eye from the football game. "Great sack!! Awesome play, now just pick up the fumble you idiots," Danny burst out.
Harold cracked a smile, as Danny realized what he had just done, "Uhh sorry, "he replied sheepishly.
"You're doing just fine, son," Harold reassured him, patting him on his back. "If My daughter brought you here to meet us, than you already have our approval."
In the kitchen, Lindsay sat at the table as her mother did what she normally did, her busy work around the kitchen.
"You're in love with this Daniel, Danny?" Victoria asks, in a mother trying to figure out 'what's going on way'.
"Yeah mama, I really am," Lindsay said wistfully. "He is so sweet, he's funny, he's gorgeous, and he treats me so good."
"He is cute," Victoria agrees.
"When I went through the trial, 9 months ago, he came. He came held me when the verdict was read. Mom he waited for me to be ready to be in a real relationship," she was almost shocked at how fairy tail-ish she made it sounds.
Victoria smiled at the dreaminess in her daughter's voice, but she wanted to get down to business. "So am I having a grand daughter or son, and why didn't I know about this earlier?"
"Honestly, we want to wait to find out. But we have names picked out Michaela Monroe Messer or Michael Monroe Messer." Suddenly her back started aching and her feet throbbing. And other more inappropriate things started to throb. 'Oh no, not again.' She started squirming uncomfortably.
Victoria looked at her daughter and recognized that look. "I'm afraid you got that from me." She stated.
Lindsay looked at her mom, almost afraid to ask, "Got what?"
"Urges,"
Lindsay's face turned bright red, "How long does it last?" still squirming.
"Go on, go 'rest'. I won't tell your father," Victoria nudged, "Daniel would you come in here for a second?"
"Yes ma'am?" Danny answered walking through the kitchen door. He looked at Lindsay holding her back, and got worried. "Are you ok?" He knelt down by her side, "Baby is everything okay?"
"I just need to go lie down."
