Revelations
The town hall was a buzz. The entire town had been called there by Mayor Masters. He said one of the citizens had a confession to make. The entire town was talking about what it could possibly be. Only Sam and Tucker were silent. They knew what was coming.
"May I have your attention please?" The crowd instantly stopped talking and turned to face the mayor. Vlad cleared his throat.
"Now that I have your attention, Danny Fenton would now like to say a few words to you." At that he gave Danny the mike. He tapped it and it made a squealing noise, much to the agony of everyone.
"A lot of you may know me but for those of you who don't I'm Danny Fenton. Average high schooler. I get bullied, pranked you know, the usual. Perfectly ordinary. It's just that I have a not so ordinary secret."
He took a break and looked at the crowd's expectant faces before continuing.
"Some of you may remember the portal accident a few months back. It was said I just shocked myself on one of the portals buttons. I'm sorry to say I lied the you."
Danny's mother gasped.
"What really happened is I went inside the portal. Turns out the on switch was inside. And I accidentally turned it on and was filled with so much blinding pain I can't even describe." He took a shaky breath before continuing.
"After that strange things began to happen. First my temperature dropped dramatically from the normal 98 to a 72. A constant 72. Then, I got these wicked crazy healing abilities. Like, if I get a black eye, it'd be gone in half an hour. And finally, my life started getting really fucked up."
He looked at the crowds shocked faces. He broke out in a series of laughter.
"And you guys call me clueless. Can't you see it? How we are almost exactly alike? How every time he shows up, I'm gone or when I come back battered and bruised? I mean come on! Even Jazz figured it out. And Mr. Lancer! Shouldn't last week's entrance have tipped you off?"
At that point the entire crowd turned to the girl and she slid deep into her seat.
Danny looked at them with a look of pure hatred. "You people make me sick. Hunting me all the time doesn't make it easier!" He sighed and calmed down.
"So it turns out I'm a rare breed because of the accident. Only three of us in the world and one is a clone of me. Thanks to the portal incident, I'm half-ghost."
At that point the gasps were completely audiable. And increased even more so when he started to float into the air.
"And do you want to know who I am? Do you!?"
The white rings formed at his waist and travelled up and down his body, transforming him into his ghostly alter-ego.
"I'm Danny Phantom."
He surveyed the crowd.
"Yeah that's right. They boy you bullied, ridiculed and hunted is the same as the one you like in another form. I can't believe I used to protect you. I was your hero, no matter what the cost. Now I can't take it. You. Are. On. Your. Own." He ended with a whisper.
Her turned intangible and flew out. He didn't even turn around once.
