Take us back
The sun still rises. The sun still sets. Civilisation does not change this and never will. We try so hard to make a difference yet we are all small pawns in the grand scheme of things. Only took us a few tries but we were stubborn enough to wipe all but a few thousand of us off the surface of the earth. Rockets possible of hope and a bright future. Racing towards the stars, the never ending abyss exploring who knows what exists for who knows how long. But no. we decide to load them full of worst creations and set them on ourselves in the name of "justice" and "survival". Yet the result is utter extinction. What good is justice when there is no world left to uphold it? 100 years after it happened the few that remain still cling to the beliefs and the errors of the generation that led them to this hell. The cities of tomorrow are now nothing but rubble and scrap, junk and waste, anything usable to create a shelter from the never forgiven waste which now encompasses us all. Nature itself has taken control of the land once again. But not as you may expect. The creatures that once hide from civilisation, the ones considered "pests" and "insignificant bugs and insects" now roam the lands larger and stronger than any man could dare dream of. The ultimate power of humanity was its true weakness. A weapon so unstoppable that not even the creators could control. What was meant as a deterrent to others only brought about the end stripping the power predators and letting the prey rise up to begin again.
Winds of the waste now rip the skin of any living thing. The radioactive wrath of nature destroys all that stands in its way not showing any mercy of forgiveness to those who dared to rid the world of its once green greatness. Where ever you go ash and death will be all that you see. The world is an endless void, devoid of colour and life it claws to life each day getting weaker and praying for the end which will never come as long as 1 still prevails. The waters of blue now black poisoned to the core. A miasma of death and disease. A false hope for all who seek life. Lured in with the promise of another's day survival. Only to be struck down and left for dead.
Despite the never ending death there are those who seek to prevail. Those who dare to defy nature everyday by persevering against the inevitable death simply because they can, and simply as it is the only thing that they have left. A brotherhood of metal. The future knights in signing armour are now the so called saviours of the new world. Harnessing the technology of the old world for the greater good of mankind. They fight each day against the brothers of black. Those who seek to end the metal control, and so far…they are succeeding.
The brothers of steel are nearing their end. Many have fallen and the surviving 100 men and women now hold the citadel. Their base, their home, their only hope. The black descends upon them 100 fold yet the brothers are not deterred. They will win or they will die in a blaze of fire and glory. Either way…..tonight will be the end of the era. The end of steel. Or the rise of hope.
