It was ending.
Everything seemed so prefect. They had grown to understand one another so well. No one could ever tear them apart. But now.. Everything they had together.. It was over.
Ibuki could feel Shindou slipping right through his fingers. He tried to fight for him. To keep him. But instead, he watched the distance between them grow until they barely talked anymore. Ibuki wasn't much of a talker and neither was Shindou.. But this silence.. It hurt.
They had gotten so close it seemed impossible for them to ever part. They were together all the time. They shared everything. Shindou couldtrust Ibuki with more than he could even trust Kirino with.. How could this be the?
Was this the last time they would be together? Would they even acknowledge one another after this? Ibuki would feel his entire body trembling as he tried to find words. His face was hot from the frustration he felt. He knew he was crying.. He knew it was scaring Shindou that he was showing such emotion right now. He had to do it. It was for Shindou..
The words hurt more and more as he thought about them. They had to come out. "Shindou.. I can't do this anymore.. I won't.."
There it was. They were out. His throat felt swelled. Like it was pulsing from the pain of those words; like glass shooting throw him as they left his lips.
Shindou was silent, speechless. He expression went from shock to blank in almost no time at all. He looked down at the ground and crossed his arms, his voice monotone. "Oh…" He paused to stay composed, hiding his eyes behind his bangs, "Alright…"
Ibuki watched him do this, his heart sinking into his stomach at Shindou's response. His shaking hands became shaking fists and his voice went from a shakey quiet half whisper to a broken growl. "Th..THATS IT?!"
His next movement stopped itself as he kept from raising his fist to the brunette. No… He would never hurt Shindou. Not even if his lifedepending on it. That is what he swore.. But then.. What was he doing now? Did he know how hurt Shindou truly was by this? No, the brunette would never allow that. He wouldn't let himself get overtaken by his feelings. Not at a time like this.
All the anger that had built up inside the taller male escaped in a single breath. "So.. that's all it is then… just..'Alright'"
There was no response. So he continued, "Then… What we had.. It really didn't matter all that much to you after all… Did it?"
Shindou felt those last words cut deep, but he pursed his lips and kept silent. His heart was breaking into unfixable pieces but he couldn't break down here. He had to hold out..
Ibuki took his silence as an answer in itself. They weren't the same anymore. They barely had the magic they used to.. play fighting wasn't even the same. Shindou had grown cold to him. This only proved him correct. "Fine…" He gave as his final response, then he turned away and left.
Shindou stayed where he was until he knew Ibuki was gone, then collapsed. 'So.. truly no one.. can love me then…?'
