Jughead Jones stared at the empty, orange containers in front of him on the wooden table. His eyes were blank, missing the hint of mischief and excitement it used to have. His laptop sat next to him, untouched since she had left him.
Untouched since the day Betty Cooper had left him alone, in this cruel, empty, lifeless world.
Jughead bit his lip in hope of stopping the tears from his eyes from falling out, as he wrapped his arms around his legs.
She was never coming back.
He closed his eyes, letting out shaky breaths as he imagined seeing her bright, beautiful smile again. He imagined her smile, and how the corner of her eyes crinkled up when she laughed at his jokes. He imagined her body pressed against his, and how their lips fit together like two pieces of puzzle.
He imagined her, being with him right this moment.
She would be behind him, massaging his shoulders with her gentle hands. Then she would say, "don't be silly, Juggie. I would never leave you for anyone else in the world."
Then she would press her pretty pink lips against his cheek. Her arms would be wrapped around his shoulder, and she would whisper in his ear about how much she loved him.
Jughead chuckled quietly, letting the tears he had held back for so long fall down his face, dripping on to his worn out jeans.
"I thought you said you would never leave me, Betts…" he whispered quietly, slowly leaning back to the dust covered couch behind him. "You said you would be by my side."
Jughead leaned forward and rested his forehead on his knee, the sound of his quiet sobbing filling the trailer that he and his father lived in.
"I love you so much, Betts… I love you so much…" he whispered, his eyelids feeling heavy.
He lied down on the carpeted floor, his left hand holding his iconic crown beanie, and his right hand twisting the silver ring that Betty gave her on their anniversary around his left index finger.
A drop of tear fell down the side of his face as he closed his eyes and took a deep, shaky breath.
"I'm going to see you again, Betts. We'll be together again."
He fingered the ring, twisting it from the left, to the right.
Until his fingers slowly went to a halt, and his hands falling limp beside his body.
