Damn, I'm on a one-shot roll… this is a challenge from cjmarie, who insists my chapters are too long for my own good. Thus, here's a story with fewer than 500 words. And mind you it's really hard for me to do this…

Logic
Zakuyoe

I don't understand the logic behind my relationship with Stan.

He's one of the most popular jocks in the school; I'm the nerdy science club president. He has his circle of infinite friends; I have a circle of infinite solutions. He has black hair and blue eyes; I have green eyes and red hair. He's Catholic and I'm Jewish. He's more gregarious and loquacious while I'm more reserved.

And yet we're the best of friends.

One of my good friends Kenny, who also happens to know Stan well too, tells me the same thing every day: how are even friends? Amongst all our differences and all our similarities… where along the line did we meet?

He sees red as the school colors of our high school's football team. But for me, I see yet another example of how different we are. He's red and blue; I'm green. The primary colors of light are pretty much living proof that we should be completely separate. On that color wheel (not the color wheel of pigments), red and blue do not ever intersect green, yet we're still together for at least eighteen hours a day.

You know, maybe one day I'll figure out why we're so different, why I capture the king in chess and he becomes the king on the football field, why he watches MTV and I watch the Discovery Channel, why he's hurt from sports injuries and why I'm hurt from brain overloads, why he's dating me and I'm dating him—but I don't think it matters.

What does matter, though, is that in the end we're together.

Fuck logic.

Seriouslah! Give me oneshot ideas and challenge fics to write about! I want stuff to write! (I haven't abandoned Nostalgia I swear!)
