'Louis.' A familiar voice whispers my name.
So, he's come. I've just came in from a night of carousing. The Sun was due to rise in about an hour. I planned on composing some music, but apparently Lestat had different plans for me. Good. The sooner his blood was spilled, the better.
'Lestat, what brings you here?'
'Oh, Louis. My dear, dear Louis. Did you think I wouldn't find out about the little melodramatic thoughts you've been having about my death?' he got off the mahogany chair he was sitting on and strode over to me. He stopped just two inches from my face.
'I have created you, my love, you belong to me,' he raised his cool hand and cupped my face. Every evil thought, every violent action I have been cherishing, vanished with just one touch of his.
Damn him to the very bowls of Hell! I hated the power he still had over me. Even though he was my maker and my despised one, a certain part of me, which I thought had been long dead, loved Lestat, loved him so much that it was willing to kill him. I mustn't let him play with my mind and confuse me.
I moved away, and thus breaking the fragile bond between us.
'I do not deny it. After all, you know everything. The all mighty Lestat! You won't be that once you're dead,' I spat out.
'I've brought you something.' And he turned and walked back to retrieve a sack lying behind the chair, which had escaped my attention.
He changed the subject! Jesus Tap-dancing Christ, he won't face me!
'Don't you disregard me, Lestat!' I glided towards him, in that inherently vampiric way we have of moving; too fast for the human eye to detect.
He was bent over the sack and was trying to get it open. I pushed him on the shoulder making him stumble. He looked at me dazed. His eyes moved from scanning my enraged face to the rough-clothed bag.
'Open it, Louis. I've picked her just for you.'
Her? Lestat, what have you done?
I panicked and quickly began tearing at the strings holding it together. Once my clumsy fingers managed to open the bag, I found a head of curly blonde hair smiling up at me. A girl! He brought me a human girl!
'Kill her Louis.'
'Are you mad? I'm not that much of a Devil. I won't kill an innocent child who still hasn't experienced life!'
My passionate outburst moved something in him. He looked at me with confusion and made his choice.
'Fine. Keep her. I don't want her. When you are ready, you can be the one to make her.'
No, Lestat, I'm not like you.
'But, I can't keep her. The Sun is about to rise! How am I supposed to look after her? You can't do this to me, Goddamn you.'
But, he was already gone.
Something tugged on my leg.
'Daddy Louis? Are you mad at me?'
She was adorable. With her head full of blonde ringlets and clear blues eyes, awfully reminiscent of Lestat's. She had on a white dress that reached her knees and kid slippers.
'No, I'm not mad at you. What is your name?'
'It's Claudia.'
'Well, Claudia, it looks like it's just you and I,' and I looked at the open door.
'Remember, Louis, I know…' ran through my head.
