Into the Ocean

Prologue
Motivation

There were always times when she would wonder: why do such bad things happen to such good people?
Why was she reaped? The odds certainly had been in her favor.
Why was she mad? It was not her fault, what happened in her arena.

But most importantly… why was her lover dead?
Why…
Why…
Why?

Annie Cresta. Annie Odair. She did not care what people would refer to her as. It was never something that had crossed her mind. She was always too busy sitting on that beach, staring at the ocean and at her little boy, frolicking through the waves with that same word running through her head over and over and over again.
Why?

Why did he have to look so much like his father? With those sea-green eyes, tangle of bronze hair, and that smile. Finnick's smile. The one that had won her over in the first place.
As she sat on the sand, her hands running absentmindedly through the granules of sand, she heard something different.

Annie…

She looked out at the sea, the white foam capping the swells as they rode in and out of the shore. Her son squealed with delight as the water washed over his feet. She watched him dance, his feet kicking up droplets of water that caught the evening sun and reflected the light right into her eyes.

Annie… the ocean called.
I…
Love…
You…
