"Whats wrong?" Sam asked as he saw all the girls leaving their room. He knew that she was feeling queasy on the car ride back to the hotel and was worried that he hadn't heard from her all day.
Tina responded back grimly, "she is super sick Sue is preparing an ice bath for her."
Sam's heart dropped this couldn't be happening not at nationals he knew just how much it meant for her to perform on that stage. He had to go talk to her. After much bargaining with the girls he managed to get them to loan him their key to the room, they knew that if anyone could cheer Mercedes up it would be Sam.
Sam quietly crept into the room calling out out her name. She whimpered quietly in response from the bathroom. He open the door to find her in the bathtub covered in ice. "Hey babe how are you" he said with frown, she looked exhausted and was despite the bath was sweating up a storm." Sam…" she whispered shutting her eyes, "you shouldn't be here, I'll get you sick." "I don't care" he responded firmly, let me take care of you, you know I've taken several ice baths of my own to cool myself down after being turned on by my gorgeous girlfriend" he smirked grabbing her hand to kiss it. Smacking his hand away Mercedes responded back, "no we can't afford for 2 members of the new directions sick, now go" " But.. " Sam started to respond but Mercedes cut him off saying, "please Sam?" Sighing he responded back "okay, okay I'm leaving, I love you baby feel better." "I love you too" she responded, "now go before Sue sees you and calls us out for our sexual tension again grinning." "She wouldn't be wrong" he muttered as he felt his pants grow tight as his eyes roamed over her body with lust. Seeing the lust in his eyes she pointed her finger to the door. Go! Reluctantly he got up and left.
Anger seeps through Sam as he realized that the love of his life would miss her opportunity to shine he was going to make sure that he went on that stage and gave his all to win the nationals title for her. She deserved that and so much more. So when he saw Puck slacking during dance reversal she snapped. "Not All of us are so fortunate to up on that stage get your lazy ass up" Puck was having a hell of a week already and was more then willing to let out some of that bottled up frustration on his blonde friend. Things escalated until Mr. Shue and the others came in to break up the fight. Sam and Puck realized that they were only taking out their frustrations on each other and apologized, Puck knew that Sam was worried about Mercedes and he still had a soft spot in his heart for 'Sexy Momma'
Their nationals performance was a mere minutes away and Sam couldn't get out of his funk. He put his arm around Tina and Quinn for comfort but he just missed her so much. That's when he heard her, he turned in surprise to see her in her nationals outfit positively glowing. He wanted to run to her, hold her in his arms and kiss her senseless but he knew she needed to keep her strength up for the performance. As she made her way to the stage for the troubletones performance he squeezed her hand and whispered in her ear, "Go get em tiger", nipping at her ear. She squeezed his hand and whispered back "oh lord now I need another ice bath" grinning at her boyfriend before retreating to the stage.
