Wolowitz knew that he had to take a stand. He was no longer a momma's boy.

"Look Ma," he said gently, "You know I love you. You are my mother and you've done a lot for me. I am not a child anymore though. I am going on the space trip and you cannot stop me."

"HOW CAN YA DO THIS TA ME," she whined, "I'M YER MOTTA. I WAS DA ONE DAT KISSED YER BOO-BOOS WHEN YOU WERE A BABY! I'M DA ONE THAT TOOK CARA YOU AND NOW YER BETRAYIN' ME BY GOING INTA SPACE?"

"Ma I am not betraying you," Wolowitz said, "I'm becoming an adult. I'm growing up."

"BUT I DON'T WANT YOU TO GROW UP," his mother said, "I want you to be my little boy. I lost yer father already and yer sista. I can't lose my baby," she added quietly.

"Ma I'm going," he replied, "and I'm gonna come back. You need to let me grow up. You need to let me live my life."

"You could live your life," his mother said, "Just don't go into space. Be my little boy forever. Please."

"I'm sorry ma," he said, "I'm going into space. I'm doing what I need to do. It's important to me."

"But you're my baby," his mother said.

"I'll always be your son," Howard replied, "But we're not on the same page anymore. We're not even in the same book."

"I want you to be my baby," his mother said.

"Mom I am not your baby," Howard said, "My opinion is not your opinion. I have to grow up and let go."
His mother cried. She pleaded. She begged. She tried to talk him out of it. She did everything she could think of. The next day he was on the plane. She screamed as he went on the plane. She was dragged out by security for causing a ruckus. Days passed. Weeks passed. At the end of 3 weeks she was crying because she was sure he would never come back. That was when a knock at the door was heard. She ran to answer the door.

"I'm back ma," he said hugging her.

"HOWIE," his mother said, "You're my little boy again"

"No ma," he said, "I'm your son. I'm your adult son. You have to stop worrying about me because wherever I go I will come back. I promise you that I will come back but it's time for me to make it on my own."

"Okay," his mother said, "I guess I can let you grow up as long as you promise me that you'll always be my son and you'll always come back."

"I promise you that Ma," he said, "and I love you."

"I love you too," she said
