Miley couldn't quite understand why it had happened to her. Why she was chosen to feel the pain. The confusion. The uncertainty. Where was he? He was always there when she started to feel like this. Always standing by her side, ready to catch her when she fell. Which she did, all the time.

Had he forgotten her?

Miley Stewart sat with her legs criss-crossed on the football field, of Sea View High, plucking pieces of grass out of the ground with her shaking hands. Her head was swirling around. She felt as if she was on those tea cups like in Disney World, where you spun round and round and round and your stomach would do flips, but you'd go on anyways. The sun was just rising and the smell of the dew on the grass filled the air. Any other person would think it was the perfect start to a beautiful day. But, Miley would like to think other wise.

She and he had a tradition…with him. At exactly midnight on her birthday, they would meet on the football field and he would give her, her present. But, he hadn't shown. She figured he was only running a little late. But, once it turned 1:45 a.m. she knew he had forgotten. She was sitting in the same position she had been in for the past 4 hours.

What had happened? Was he hurt? Was he in trouble? Or was she just over-reacting?

Miley sighed, sat up and wiped the grass off her jeans. He wasn't coming and the thought of that killed Miley. The tears began to fall, at the thought of him. It felt as if there was a huge knot in her throat and she couldn't swallow. Look at what he did to her. If he had shown up then they would probably be waking up to the sound of birds chirping right about now. She would have this cheesy smile plastered on her face and her body would be entangled in his. But, that dream was soon crushed when her phone started to vibrate. Miley reached into her pocket and flipped her phone open.

1 New Voicemail … it read.

Miley pressed "ok" and listened to the message. "You have 1 new voicemail. Recorded at 6:09 a.m." the woman's recorded voice said. "Hey Miles" Nick's voice whispered, "Happy birthday! Listen, I'm sorry I couldn't make it. But, don't worry I'm ok. Uhh…I know you're probably mad, but don't be. I have an explanation! It's just that I…ok" he sighed, "I didn't-" Miley pressed the end button on her phone. She didn't want to hear his excuses. He knew her, he knew she never took excuses. You were to give it to her straight and nothing less. But, I guess Nick forgot about that too. Shows her how well she knew him.

Miley was learning a lot about Nick and so far, it was all garbage. How can you know someone for so long without really knowing them?

Miley took a deep breath and headed towards her school. She was going to forget about this birthday. Forget about that last message. Forget about the pain. And forget about Nick. After all, he go forgot about her too.

So I don't exactly LOVE how the ending went. But, still tell me what you think. I know this isn't exactly Niley. But, this is just a story for myself. I needed to let a few things out and I do that through my writing. So as always...read.ment!
