White roses.
Ever since this had all started he'd been given white roses. The first one was just a bud. A start to a new relationship. Yugi had been flattered when the boy had handed it to him and confessed an undying crush on him. It was a sweet gesture, but Yugi had turned him down. The boy was cute, handsome, and polite, but nothing about him or his gift interested the puzzle lover.
The thirtieth to the forty-second was in a bouquet from another male. An older male. He was the son of one of his grandfather's friends. The male had been twelve years his senior and quite stunning. Yugi had taken the flowers with a blush and had whispered softly that it was a beautiful gift. The man had tried to kiss him only to be refused. Yugi told him that their relationship wasn't going past friendship. To Yugi, this male was nothing but a hindrance. Someone who would control him. Nothing about him or his gift kept the little angel occupied.
The last three white roses were from his friends. Anzu, Honda and Jou. They'd given him the hated flowers for his birthday, thinking he'd like them. Yugi hated them. He accepted them politely, and gave each friend a gentle kiss on the cheek and a thank you. Once they'd left, he'd crushed the blooms and thrown them away. His friends were really just spectators, their gifts disgusting. Nothing about them or their gifts warmed the young Moto's heart.
Yugi had given up hope, after Atem's decent to the after life, that he would receive any other flower then a white rose. Once he reached his senior year, he noticed a handsome man standing by the gate in jeans, a black wife-beater, a white, zipper, short sleeved hoody jacket and a black wrist band. His hair was black with red tips, and golden bangs, a few locks of which shot into the black and red. The man turned and smiled at him. Yugi's breath was taken away.
Behind his yami, he could see Yami Bakura and Marik talking softly. Ryou shot past him and into his yami's arms. The Thief caught his little rabbit in a delicate hold as they desperately ate at each other's mouths. Yugi watched as Atem walked slowly towards him, "I spent the last two years learning all I could. I've got a Masters in Ancient Egyptian Mythology and a minor in Ancient Egyptian Architecture. My memories helped me with everything. I really famous for finding my own city. It was buried." Yugi nodded and allowed his Yami to embrace him, "I did all of this, hoping, praying that I'd be able to take your away from him and let you live the life you always wanted." Atem smiled and he tipped up Yugi's chin, "I spent years trying to find a flower that would make you smile and that you would love." Atem pulled a beautiful purple spiraled flower from his jacket.
"Atem!"
The ex-pharaoh smiled happily, "It's a Black Calla Lily, or an Arum Lily. It really depends on where your from." Yugi accepted the bloom and cradled it. The flower was beautiful and simple. Yugi couldn't help but love it. Atem smiled faintly, "If you don't like it… I can always-"
Yugi pulled Atem into a deep kiss and cradled the flower between them. Atem used one arm to hold Yugi close and the other to cup the hand that cradled Yugi's flower. Both boys broke apart and the smaller whispered softly, "It's not the flower… it's you. That's all that matters. You." Atem gently set the flower aside and pulled Yugi into a deeper kiss.
Yugi had always gotten white roses, but this time, a time of renewal, it wasn't white, or a rose. It was a beautiful flower in a delicate cone shape, it spiraled in a delicate loop around a yellow center stem. The black of the petal faded into the green of the actual stem. It seemed as if nothing could ruin this day. White roses.
They were horrible things.
a/n: The end! I have nothing against white roses. Like I said: no clue where this came from! Anyway! Thank you for reading. *bow*
