A/N: This is my first Doctor Who fan fiction. Please be gentle!
She
They were travelers, she and him.
Not traveling ordinarily, though, like one might think. Not traveling across the state, the country. Not even the world. No, it was much more than all that.
They were travelers across time and space itself.
So she and him stumbled into galaxies, histories—and above all else, love.
These two didn't notice at first, close as they were. Some would have even called them the best of mates.
He had been a lonely traveler before her, seeking companionship where he could find it. And find it, he did—he found her.
She and him… Oh, they were quite different in some ways, but so similar in others. He was a man without a home, she had one but left the comfort of it for him. Though together, they made a new home, dwelling among the TARDIS. In fact, you could even say the TARDIS was part of the family. She protected them in times of danger, she was their shelter, their sanctuary.
"How long do you plan on staying with me?" The question had just slipped out, but he thought about it almost constantly.
"Forever," was her reply.
And that's when the Doctor realized he loved this girl. The revelation was short-lived, though, for they were brutally, harshly, unforgivably ripped apart. Literally worlds separated the two.
Throughout all of his nine-hundred and three years, he thought, he had never come across such a being that meant all of the galaxies, planets, moons and suns to him. And it was that one word, that one name, that one human that kept him fighting, in the end. A flash of blonde hair, tongue between teeth. A smile that could destroy an entire universe. Weeell, not if he stopped it first, but that was besides the point. She was beauty in the most literal, non-fiction sense.
Rose, she was called.
