A CONCEPT UNKNOWN
.
Rest is a concept unknown
Rest leaves a hero alone
A hero hates adventures
But life keeps throwing wrenches
Into the works
Here in our Stalag 13
No quiet day to be seen
A depot that needs blowing
Defectors that need going
Off to England right away
Munitions train delayed
And Hochstetter is prowling
Pick up some stuff from town
The female way
Spying on evil Krauts
A scientist needs taking out
A convoy that needs mining
The Kommandant is whining
Whaa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa
Whaa wa wa wa
How I would thoroughly enjoy it
Doing nothing for a day
But London always has to spoil it
With more escapees on the way
For... rest is a concept unknown
Rest leaves a hero alone
A hero always hurries
A hero always worries
His head off
For Schultz needs some Strudel fed
And Klink just lost his head
The dogs that need befriending
When comes our happy ending?
Whaa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa
Whaa wa wa wa
A quiet moment in the compound
Basking in the wintersun
Always shattered by the shy sound
Of Kinch – with something that needs done
Oh well... rest is a concept unknown
Rest leaves a hero alone
Marya comes to visit
Though we all would rather miss it
(Except LeBeau)
Never a leisurely day
Oh well, what can I say?
A hero, if you wonder
Will seldom reach a hundred...

Based on the song Rust is een Zeldzame Zaak (Rest is a Rare Commodity), from a popular Dutch TV show from the seventies.
The plot of the song is exactly the same; I just translated the original fairy-tale text (with dragons to be slain and princesses who keep fainting) to the situation of our Heroes in Stalag 13. For already the very first time I heard this song, I pictured especially Newkirk and Hogan singing it in a HH adaptation.
And now I've finally managed to write it for them!
If you'd like to hear the song in the background while reading/singing the HH text,
copy qjcxuvS73k0 into the searchbox of youtube, and you'll find it.
Made and uploaded especially for this fic – my very first slideshow!
And if you listen *really* carefully, you can hear me singing along in the wa-wa-wa chorus! :-)
