Haven't you wondered why Duncan always called Courtney 'Princess'? Well, here's the reason behind the nickname she hates so much. Duncan / Courtney. DxC. OneShot.

The Nickname

Ten years ago, when Duncan and Courtney were 7 years old, they used to live next to each other. They never spoke, because Courtney's parents forbid her from talking to the future delinquent. They had heard about his messed up family.

It was a regular Halloween. She dressed up as a princess this year, with the crown and sparkly dress. She was so happy. She had wanted this costume for what seemed like forever, but hadn't gotten to buy it because her parents were usually too busy to take her out for Halloween.

It was also the first time Duncan saw her. Sure, he's seen glimpses of her every once and a while at kindergarten and when he played outside, but he never really saw her. He was simply mesmertized.

Her hair was curled, a tiny tiara on top. Her pink dress sparkled as she walked, her sandals hitting the pavement softly. She was skipping as she walked from one house to another. Duncan wasn't out trick-or-treating, he was staying at home, watching the other kids have their fun.

She finally stopped by his house, and ringed the doorbell. She had forgotten all about the ban on going to house. Duncan answered the door, but his older brother pushed him out of the way, tossed the candy into her bag, and shut the door.

That was the first time they really met.

Ten years later, on TDI, he saw her again. He was shocked on how much she had grown.

"Hey Princess," he said, smirking.

A/N: Short OneShot :) I originally thought of the idea a while ago, but never really had the time to write it. Anyway, hope you enjoyed! And there might be a Duncan / Courtney story coming out soon (multi-chapter).

Oh, and sorry about it being all in the middle. It's not supposed to be... but it won't go back! Sorry!

Hugs,
