Gon sat up, rubbing at his head and running his hands through his hair furiously. He couldn't sleep. He had been, sort of, doing okay without Killua around when he went traveling with his dad. He had to deal it with it, but now that Killua was back...
He didn't want to.
He wasn't sure when it had started to be honest, maybe during the Hunter Exam, in Trick Tower when they were sleeping next to each other. He remembered that was the first time he had heard it, but not necessarily grew attached to it. That took a little longer.
It could have been on the train, after they had gone to Killua's home and brought him with them. They had fallen asleep against each other's shoulders. He wondered if it were then, just listening to that sound that helped lull him to sleep.
Either way, he had grown attached to it, couldn't sleep without it, for the most part. It was rare that he was able to sleep comfortably through the night, no tossing and turning, without that sound. He had gone so long without and it would be really really nice if he could just...
But Killua kept his distance.
They weren't fully back to how they were before, they probably never would be, no matter how much Gon wished for it, but he wanted this one little thing so badly. He was restless without. He was sure he wasn't getting enough sleep because it plagued his mind at night, wondering if Killua would get mad if he...
Gon squeezed his eyes closed and squeezed the pillow he had been holding onto once, tightly, and then threw it off to the side, it landed on the floor with a light thump. He then cautiously made his way over to the other bed where the silver hair boy was sleeping.
It was probably a bad idea.
He couldn't resist, though. That was why he found himself pulling back the covers on the bed and laying his head on Killua's chest, feeling it move up and down slowly and listening to the gently heart beating, his own personal lullaby.
Soon he fell asleep, in the most blissful sleep he had in a while.
He didn't even notice how the heart beat quickened or the arms that wrapped around him, keeping him in place.
"Gon..."
