Please read this before reading this story. ^^ Heartless is my friend's character, and in this case, Grace's best friend. Thanks! Enjoy!

"Grace, could you come with me for a moment?" Grace looked at L and couldn't help but be filled with hope. Maybe he had a special task for her to do. She was suddenly eager to please. But if that was the case, now would certainly be a strange time to do it, in the middle of a meeting. He normally didn't like to interrupt things, especially with the Kira case. Then again, L was a strange kind of guy.

When L looked at her, he could see the blind admiration in her eyes. It hurt his heart to think about what he was about to do to her, but as long as Light said he had found that little black journal in her room, he had to assume that she was Kira. He led her in front of a door, and he knew she was familiar with it. As soon as they stepped in the door, the guards grabbed her, blind folding her and locking her in the same mechanism that Misa had been in weeks before. They left shortly after, leaving them alone. "L…?" She sounded unconvinced, as if she was expecting this to be like a joke, one were something might jump out and startle her. "Gracie—Grace," he caught himself. He wasn't going to allow himself to call her by that name. A name that her closest friends used. After this, he doubted she would ever want anything to do with him. "Tell me everything you know about a black notebook. It was found in your room, and I want everything. Now."

"A black notebook? L, what are you talking about?"

"You know what I'm talking about."

"L, I don't. Surely you believe me!" Her voice seemed to get higher pitched, but not were she was defending herself, not like she was lying. The poor girl was terrified. "L. L, please, you can't leave me here!" She was getting hysterical now. "Don't call me L. It's Ryuzaki to you now," he mumbled as he left the room. L went back to the hotel room and watched her through the camera. She continued to scream for him, obviously scared to death. L had forgotten the extent of her claustrophobia. Sooner or later, she had tears running out of the corners of her blind fold.

Heartless must have heard what was going on, because she was there minutes after he returned. She opened the door, looking ready to kill someone. "Let her out. Let her out right now." L just shook his head, keeping his eyes locked on the cameras. "I said let her out! You know she didn't do it, L, I'm with her every hour of every day, and when she's not with me, she's with you! Don't do this. You know how she is about stuff like this… She won't be the same again!"

But L ignored her, staring at the girl that he used to be convinced that he liked. He thought he actually liked her, in a romantic way. She was certainly the first and only woman he'd ever thought of that way. And now, in under an hour, he had most likely thrown it all away.

Dumb ending. I know. Hopefully, there will be more chapters to come! ^^ Thank you!
