Excuse for this is because I was bored before bed & wanted a nice drabble between two characters because, well, the fic I'm writing atm doesn't have any romance in it really...

Because if he shows the love he has for her, he knows it will never get him anywhere. Why make himself weak, make him the lovesick fool, when she isn't going to reciprocate the feelings? Why show the world how you feel, just to be rejected in public? Why attempt to herd a sheep that doesn't want to be captured, just because you need it?

He can't see the point in doing anything to show his love because, well, she didn't respond to Sam's incessant displays of the obvious love he had for her. She didn't bother to tell him that she loved him back but neither did she tell him that she didn't so that she could let him move on. No, she kept him trapped there, so she could keep him under her control.

He wants to tell her how he feels; of course he does, to get it out in the open on the off chance that she will respond the same way back. He wants to be able to hold her in his arms, for her to tell him the words she never told Sam – that she loves him – when he was living, at least.

He wants to love her openly.

But he can't. She will never do anything to jeopardise her position and risk the power she has. She will always put her position before her heart.

And that is something he, begrudgingly, accepts. He knows that he will probably never have her.

Having love is easy… but hiding it… that's the hard part.

So, this is sort of how I see (as well as my fics where they do get together) Amelie and Oliver's relationship: hidden and unknown, mysterious and shrewd with the cloak of invisibility.

Tell me what you think
