Girl's night out never sounded so sweet. Amber had talked Nina, Mara, and Patricia into getting an evening away without discussion of the guys. Nina felt guilty that they hadn't invited Joy, and Amber protested a little bit that Joy doesn't have a boy to get away from, but Nina brought her along, with no discussion of the original thought to not bring her once she met them in the foyer. The first thing they did when they met was simultaneously agree that there could be no discussion of anyone, especially boys, who went to their school. Then they all started walking to a small concert in a park downtown for a local band, and they were excited, but Patricia was the first to note a major flaw in their plan.
"What else do we have to talk about?"
Nina sighed. She'd noticed that too, but instead said, "We'll find something."
When they arrived at the park, they saw about 100 people laying out on blankets, walking about, the normal pre-concert buzz. The girls all squealed when they spotted a group of cute guys setting up some lawn chairs.
10 minutes later, they had their seats, and a guy in his 40s was up on stage doing some announcements. The sun peaked over the horizon, leaving the sky a scarlet orange, and a few fireflies came out, exciting the younger kids that had come with their families.
Finally, the guy with the microphone got off stage, and the band came on and started warming up. Amber looked around and noticed that the group of guys from earlier had moved their chairs a little closer to them, and were now only sitting about 15 feet behind the girls. They all smiled and turned to the stage, ready to listen to some music.
For the next half an hour, Patricia, Mara, Nina. Amber and Joy all sang their hearts out, swayed from side to side, clapped like maniacs, and had a great time. The band went on intermission, and everyone got up to go get ice cream and glow sticks from a few tables people had set up. Patricia and Amber had decided to stay put, to guard the blanket, but Nina and Joy started heading for the ice cream. Once they got in line, Joy and Nina turned around, to notice that a few of the cute guys had come up, and were standing in line right behind them. Joy smiled again, and Nina looked at Joy with a grin. With a funny sigh, she whispered,
"Okay, which one is it?"
"The blonde one in the white shirt."
"Go get him." Nina offered. Joy turned around to go say hi, and the blonde one talked to her for a moment. Nina got her ice cream and went back to the blanket while Joy stayed with the blonde boy. As the boys got their ice cream, they left the line and took Joy back to their chairs, and she sat on his lap. Amber asked Nina,
"Where's Joy?"
"With blondie over there." The girls all turned around, and giggled at Joy licking her ice cream cone and laughing.
After the concert ended, Joy caught up with the other girls. Mara asked with a huge grin,
"Okay, what's his name?
"Jonny." She said wistfully. "And I think I'm in love…."
The other girls laughed and Joy smiled more than she had all year, blushing the entire way home.
A.N. You like? This was based off of the Taylor Swift song Enchanted. And the Adam Young song…. Hopefully it won't turn out for Joy like it did for Taylor.
