Exercise
By Wicketbear
Summary: A form of exercise Spock may never do again.
"Oh come on, Spock. It'll be fun." Jim put on his best grin.
"Sure Spock, let's all go. Even you can do this and what a better way to get some exercise," Bones added.
Spock glared at them. "I have no desire to partake in this activity."
"Why not?" they asked simultaneously.
"This is not safe."
"Neither is breathing on the wrong planet. You're right Spock, it's not safe," Jim grinned, "but it's a lot of fun. Just pick one."
"If I must, then I chose the golden hue with the tail contrast," he pointed.
"Excellent."
Kirk was having a bit of difficulty getting on his own transportation; it was a bit taller than he thought. Seemed his legs were not long enough to reach the foot hold in order to pull himself up and over. "Hum, I seem to have a problem." He stood back then looked around the area for something to stand on, there was nothing in sight.
Spock, noticing the trouble, walked over to Kirk and offered a hand up. Kirk placed a foot in the Vulcan's hand and on the count of three up and over he went. Landing on his butt, on the ground, on the other side. This did nothing for his ego, but it sure set off Bones.
McCoy was in stitches laughing. "Good job, Spock. Do it again."
"I am sorry, Jim." He offered a hand to help Jim back up. "I don't know my own strength were humans are concerned."
Glaring at McCoy, Kirk got up, brushed himself off, and walked back to the other side where Spock was waiting for him. "Oh, shut up, Bones!" Kirk howled at the hysterical doctor.
"Shall we attempt this again?"
"Only if you promise to be nice this time," Kirk said pointing an accusing finger at Spock.
"I shall endeavor to do so." Spock took up a stance and on the count of three Kirk jumped and Spock pushed oh so gently and Kirk was on top.
"Thank you, Mr. Spock."
"You are quite welcome, Captain."
This just caused McCoy to burst out laughing all over again. "Let's get a move on." McCoy walked over to his choice and climbed aboard, which was difficult while laughing.
Spock grabbed hold of the available hand hold and easily swung up on top.
Kirk was impressed, "Well done, Spock. Let's go? Just getting on took most of our time."
"Hang on, Jim. Let Spock get use to the motion first and find his balance before you go gallivanting off."
Kirk gave his ride a good squeeze and they were off. Of course if one goes they all go, it's a herd thing.
Next thing Spock knew he was racing full tilt across the glade.
Kirk pulls up his horse to let the others catch up.
As soon as Spock's mount was within a foot of the others it slams on the breaks. Caught by surprise Spock sailed over the head of the horse and lands gracefully on his feet with the reins still grasped firmly in his hand. Jaws dropped open McCoy and Kirk look on in amazement.
When the shock wears off McCoy looks at Kirk and says, "That was one of the best dismounts I have ever seen. He's just like a cat, always lands on his feet."
"Well that was no fun," Kirk whispers for only McCoy to hear. "Want to see if we can get it to happen again?" Kirk said with a mischievous grin.
"Jim, what is wrong with you?" McCoy asked.
"Nothing." Kirk pouts.
"Jim, I am sorry that you were not entertained. I do not wish to do it again, and I have exceptional hearing. I believe I am now ready to return to the facility. I have had quite enough of this horseback riding. Thank you for the experience, Gentlemen. I will wait for your return in the sun room." With that he remounted his horse and quietly walked back to the rental facility.
Kirk and McCoy looked at each other and grinning took off full power across the glade in the opposite direction.
The End
