Danny didn't want to go out, he didn't want to watch the ball drop or drink champagne or put on a silly hat of blow a horn.
He just wanted this, him and Lindsay, at her apartment, he hated being at his, laying in bed together, her warm, naked body wrapped around his, her scent surrounding him, her hair in his face, her very presence making his life worth living.
"I love you," he said.
"I love you too," she said, kissing his chest, her head resting over his heart.
"I'm sorry I'm not up to more tonight that I'm not up to going out, having fun."
"I don't care about that. I'm just glad I'm with you, that we're going to start the year off together."
"You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. Thanks for not giving up on me lately, even if I deserved it."
"I'll never give up on you, know why?" she asked, leaning up to look at him.
"Why?"
"You never gave up on me. That's what you do when you love someone, never give up. I'll never give up on you Danny. Never."
