Chapter 01 – Jack and Jill

It was a Tuesday evening and Jill was very ecstatic. She was finally going to meet her boyfriend's parents for dinner. She met Jack about a month ago at school. She was getting her books from her locker and she saw him, staring at her from across the hall. She always had a bit of a crush on him, but when she saw him, her cheeks turned red before she could think twice.

After about a week after Jill caught him, and he asked her out. She said yes of course. Their first date was Jill teaching him how to trap animals. They had a good haul of three squirrels and even a few beavers that made the mistake of chewing in the tree stump Jill hid her bow in. And now she was finally meeting his family.

She had recently washed up and was getting dressed when the doorbell rang.

"Jill," Katniss called, "You boyfriends here." Katniss never really cared for Jack. It's not that she didn't like him, it's just "there is something about him I don't like, but I can't put my finger on it" in her Mom's words. She could hear them talking about something, but couldn't make it out. Knowing her Mom she is probably giving him a relentless interview.

"How do I look Dad?" Jill asked Peeta as he walked in her bedroom.

"You look like crap," Peeta said mimicking her brother's voice and giving a hearty chuckle.

"Shut up, Dad" And she walked out.

As she walked down the stairs her anxiety grew. She walked in the living room just in time for Katniss to give her a hug.

"You look great dear," She whispered in her ear.

"Thanks, Mom."

"Now, good luck, and don't stay out too long."

"Bye, Mom. I'll be back soon," and she was off to Jack's parents' house.

It was very cold outside and Jill started to shiver. Jack noticed this and gave Jill his jacket.

"Woulnd't you get cold?" Jill asked nither accepting nor rejecting his jacket.

"Naw. I'll be fine," but Jill could see he was shivering.

"You shivering."

"I'll be fine"

"No take your jacket!"

"I'm fine!"

"Why are we yelling!"

"You started it!"

"Because you wouldn't take your jacket!"

"Fine I will!"

"Good!"

Jill gives him a look, but Jack just starts laughing.
