After reuniting with Haru and their other friends from the Earth Kingdom, the gang settled into to the Western Air Temple to recover from the failed invasion attempt. It was hard. Sokka especially felt like a failure, as it had been his plan. His stupid, stupid plan that got his dad imprisoned.
Despite all of the stress about his current situation there was one thing he couldn't get out of his mind. A young man he had run into, Haru, had facial hair now. He hadn't before. It hadn't been that long since they had seen each other.
Why did Haru suddenly decide to grow his facial hair? Sokka pondered as he began to eat his meal, glancing over at his friend.
"That's different," Katara said with a teasing smile, pointing at Haru's mustache. "Why'd you decide to grow it?"
"It's a long story," Haru said modestly. "I'm sure it'd bore you to tears."
"That's alright," Aang said, hoping for a story. "We've got all night."
"Well," Haru began. "Not too long after you guys left, a strange man came to my village. He called himself 'Ataru Moroboshi' and harassed all of the women in the village. Even my poor mother."
"I hate guys like that," Sokka interjected.
"Anyway, he harassed me as well. More so than the others, actually. He called me 'beautiful' and ignored my protests saying that I was a guy. I decided that growing my facial hair was the quickest way to convince him otherwise."
"What a weirdo," Sokka added.
"Yes," Haru agreed. "He was told that the most beautiful woman in the world lived in the Fire Nation. We even told him that she was a princess. Princess Azula. He seemed really excited when someone slipped and told him that there were rumors she was able to bend lightening. He kept on insisting she was an alien named 'Lum' at that point. I wonder whatever became of him."
