Mistakes

(Disclaimer: I don't own Fullmetal Alchemist. I wrote this to by funny, but I don't know if it came out that way.)

The Amestrians weren't dead. That much was obvious. Hohenhium had explained that, and they'd seen all the souls leave Father and go back to the people. However, that was all they saw, and Mustang didn't even see that much, or anything. They were underground. They couldn't see anyone effected by the transmutation as they fought Father. It wasn't until they all headed for the surface it became clear something went wrong.

"I can't believe I missed my body by so little," Darius said. At least, it looked like Darius. Sounded like him too.

"What do you mean?" Hawkeye asked. Like Darius, she looked and sounded the same, but she sounded more nervous than any of them could remember Hawkeye sounding.

"Lieutenant!" Mustang called, stumbling towards her.

"I-I'm not Hawkeye," the woman stammered.

Mustang scowled. "I think I know what my Lieutenant sounds like."

"And I thought I knew what my body looked like. It certainly seemed like the right one. But. . ."

"Izumi!" Darius suddenly cried.

At least he looked like Darius. It was becoming more and more apparent he wasn't.

"Alright. What's going on here?" Izumi asked.

"That's what I'd like to know," Mustang agreed.

Suddenly Greed started laughing. Everyone turned to him.

"You just. . ." he started, trying to breath through his laughs. "You just said you thought you recognized your body, right?" he asked the woman who wasn't Hawkeye. She nodded. "Well then, when you all returned to your bodies, I guess it wasn't as cut and dry as Hohenhium wanted us to believe. Some of you ended up in the wrong bodies. Man, I'm glad we were down there." Some mistakes had been made, and he didn't need any confusion like that.

'Hey Greed?' Ling asked from in his head. 'If we were up here, would all the souls in your stone have left? That would've made it even worse.'

"Yeah, I guess so," Greed agreed.

He had to admit, the idea of multiple people walking around with more than one soul in their body all of a sudden was kind of entertaining. What was less entertaining was that he would've lost some souls. Those were his.

"But then, where's the Lieutenant?" Mustang asked.

Everyone ignored him in favor of figuring out who was there.

"This is your fault," the person in Sig's body, Darius, said. "I knew where my body was, but you were already there."

"Sorry," the person in Darius' body, Sig, apologized. He meant it too. "I was in a hurry, and we were right next to each other. . ."

"So, is there a way to reverse this?" the person in Zampano's body asked.

"Huh? Who are you now?" Greed asked.

"Still Zampano. I'm just wondering about everyone else." As he was still in his chimera state, his body was hard to mistake for anyone else's.

"Hell if I know," Greed answered honestly. "We'll just have to figure it out." There were the sounds of explosions above them. "After we finish kicking my old man's ass of course."
