A/N: This pertains more to Susan Kay's book Phantom in which she tells more of the life Erik had before becoming the Phantom (great book for Phantom of the Opera fans in my opinion. Read if you haven't already!) In this i'm not directing his feelings to only one person but to all the people he met in the book, although some parts are meant for a specific person.
Behind This Bloody Mask
I wonder if you can see me behind this mask I wear.
Do you see the stains of red that linger from the tears of blood I've shed?
It hurts to conceal this pain I feel.
I doubt you really see me.
You look but you don't see.
See Me.
I wonder if you can hear me behind this mask I wear.
Do you hear what I desperately want to say to you?
My mind utters what I dare not speak.
I doubt you really hear me.
You listen but you don't hear.
Hear me.
I wonder if you understand the one who wears this mask.
Don't you see why I do the things I do?
That I think that maybe, just once, you'll pay attention?
I doubt you really understand me.
You know me but you don't understand.
Understand me.
Can't you hear?
Can't you see?
Can't you understand?
I'm dying behind this bloody mask which burdens me.
A/N: My first fic! (Oh and this is probably the only poem i'll be writing...but who knows?) Reviews would be appreciated! I love constructive criticism :)
